In this episode we talk to Paul Discombe who, with Ynystawe Cricket Club won the National Village Cup Competition in 2001.

Paul's bowling performance of six for eighteen off his nine overs at the final at Lords has remained the best bowling performance in a final.

This year, that performance was recognised by the current sponsors of the Cup, Cawston Press, and the Cricketer Magazine as being good enough to make Paul an inductee to the Village Cup Hall of Fame which has been in existence since 2019.

Paul talks about his entry into cricket, his development as a bowler and his memories of that Lords final as well as the experience of being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

South Africa-born Chris Cooke has become an absolute club favourite. Brave behind the stumps, often swashbuckling with the bat, he jointly holds the Glamorgan record for wicket-keeper dismissals in a first-class match, as well as the record for the county’s fastest T20 hundred, and he shared in three of Glamorgan’s highest partnerships.

But this year he called time on a career which has seen him become Glamorgan’s longest-serving current player, having made his county debut in 2011.

We caught up with him just after nets as he prepared for his final game as a county cricketer.
