On Pentecost Sunday, Pastor Bawa describes the world of the Holy Spirt in us. The Spirit is a Person who indwells in each of us - the same Person who has, or does, indwell every other believer. The Spirit comes to fill us and lead us, so our response is to be open to His continuous, gradual, consistent and empowering presence. Led by the Spirit, living in obedience to Him, we receive spiritual understanding, inspiration to worship and power to witness and to live out our new identity as children of God. God is faithful. He is generous, and His gospel is powerful. Lisa Lenton shares her story of God's faithfulness to her in the face of a major health challenge. Pastor Andy Lenton shares wisdom and encouragement from Jesus's parables about seeds. He takes us to the scene where Jesus speaks from the natural amphitheatre of a lake. We see the generosity of God, sharing His word even where it will not immediately be received, and its power to bring a harvest despite resistance. Pastor Steve shares from two Psalms, occasioned by two contrasting seasons in the life of king David. It's probably easy to sing with the victory of Psalm 21, but what do we do in the season of trial and lamentation? From Psalm 13 we learn that it’s OK to ask God “Why?” and “How long?”. We learn how to use the words of the Psalms to lament, confident that God’s Spirit works in us with and through these words. Alone with Jesus, and with trusted friends we can find a safe place to express our feelings, to find a truth we can rejoice in, and to recall a testimony from which we draw hope. Because of Jesus, we have a song on any and every season!

Communion

Pastor Steve takes us back to when Jesus introduces the new covenant meal that we call communion. Sharing from the Gospels and Paul’s writings, Pastor Steve shows how this celebration looks back to Jesus and the physical reality of His passion. In the bread and wine Jesus meets us in the present - His risen presence can be encountered in a special way. And we look to the future - to the time when Jesus will “return in glory and splendour” and transform our physical bodies into a new creation body like his own.

Today we celebrate 32 years of the pastoral ministry of Pastor Andy Lancaster and Melanie Lancaster. Drawing on Andy and Mel’s example, Pastor Peter Clothier reminds us that we show love to God by loving His people, and that God notices, remembers, and values all our acts of service, sacrifice and devotion. Peter encourages us to hold fast to our salvation, firmly grounded on Jesus and His sacrifice. Honouring the example Andy and Melanie have given us over three decades, we can similarly be faithful in our own loving service to Christ and His church.

Karen Green shares what being a Christian means to her, and what it can mean to you - crossing over from death to life. The new life Jesus calls us to accept, is one of forgiveness, freedom, direction, purpose through service, and a life free from shame. It's one where everything is to be thankful for.
