  • Season 2, Episode 27: Chatting with Gordon Jackson about "Saving St. Savior's," a Satire
    2026/06/02

Join us for a fun chat with a returning Mt. Zion Ridge Press author, Gordon Jackson.

We're taking a different path this time around. Gordon has entertained and enlightened us with a growing number of non-fiction, thought-provoking devotional books. Now he's swerving into satire, and it's a fun, sometimes amusing, sometimes cringe-worthy, very wise story.

St. Savior's is the name of a quiet old church badly in need of physical repairs and some spiritual awakening and theological growth. When its long-time pastor died in the pulpit, the search committee didn't do their due diligence, and they ended up with a very liberal pastor on shaky doctrinal ground. He looked good and sounded good, and for a while, that seemed to be working just fine for the church.

Then came a building project, and the church's 100-year anniversary and various financial problems arose and then ... Well, let's just say that this pastor finally had his eyes opened. Something like Paul's Damascus Road experience.

You'll chuckle, you'll wince, and hopefully you'll do some deep thinking about your own spiritual condition and just how firm your theology is or isn't.

In a sense, the subtitle of this book should have been "A Tale of Three Churches."

Which church do you belong to?
