Today, we continue our series on “What I’d Quit Today If I Wanted to Be Happier?”

In our first week, we tackled catastrophic thinking—the habit of expecting the worst before it happens.

In week two, we focused on letting go of the past and embracing God’s new paths.

Last week, we let go of the need for others' approval and rooted our identity in God’s love.

Now, we turn to the fourth thing: quitting the habit of complaining.

It’s easy to grumble about traffic, long days and lack of sleep, rising prices, or even who is in the White House, but Scripture reminds us that complaining kept a whole generation from God’s promises.

Today, let’s discover how gratitude and joy grow when we quit complaining and speak life instead.

Let us pray,

Lord, I come before you and lay down my habit of complaining. Forgive me for focusing on what I lack or what’s not going my way.

Teach me to see your blessings, even in small, ordinary moments.

Help me trade my frustration for gratitude and my grumbling for praise.

Remind me that complaining can block the good things you want for my life and community.

Give me a heart that rejoices in your faithfulness, and a mouth that speaks encouragement and words that build up

Help me to serve others and myself with words of thankfulness.

Holy Spirit, guide my thoughts and conversations today, so I reflect your joy and contentment wherever I go.

Good morning. Our prayer today is for Wisdom in Workplace Decisions

Let us pray:

Lord, as I enter into another week of work, I bring to you every decision, big and small, that lies ahead. I confess that I sometimes feel overwhelmed by the choices and responsibilities before me.

Grant me your wisdom that surpasses human understanding. Help me to listen well, to discern what is best, and to act with integrity and courage even when it feels risky.

Remind me to pause before I speak or act, seeking your guidance above all. Guard my heart from fear of making mistakes, and let your peace rule in my heart and mind, and in every meeting and conversation.

May my decisions bless others and honor you. Grant me greater wholeness.

Fill me with confidence that you are with me, and guide my decision-making and my steps. Amen.

In our first week, we talked about quitting the habit of instantly reacting to bad news with worst-case scenarios.

Last week, we focused on letting go of regret and the weight of what could have been.

Today, we are letting go of other people’s opinions.

Friend of God, one of the biggest barriers to greater joy and freedom is worrying, “What if they don’t like me?” or “What if they talk about me?” or “Do they think I am good enough to do that job?”

This is your day to release the need for human approval.

You are made in the image of God, wonderfully and fearfully made.

Only God validates your calling and purpose—He alone breathed life into you.

Let’s pray.

Lord, I come to you and surrender my need for approval and affirmation from others.

Set me free from fear of rejection, gossip, or misunderstanding.

Remind me again that I am your beloved, chosen, and accepted.

Help me to root my identity in your love, not in shifting opinions or expectations of others.

Give me courage to follow your calling, even if it means standing alone. Teach me to bless those who misunderstand me, and to walk in confidence and kindness.

Holy Spirit, let your voice be louder in my life than any other.

Fill me today with joy, hope, and steadfast assurance that you are pleased with me. Amen.
