    In our very first episode of BirdTalk presented by Fitch & Leedes, we focus on one of South Africa’s most iconic — and most endangered — seabirds: the African penguin.

    Once numbering in the hundreds of thousands, their population has declined by over 90% due to overfishing, habitat loss, and human disturbance. The species now teeters on the edge of extinction.

    To unpack this urgent crisis, we’re joined by Andrew De Blocq — respected ornithologist and Member of Parliament for the Democratic Alliance (DA) — who brings a unique blend of scientific insight and policy perspective.
