  • Sovereignty, ADHD & Skateboarding and the Search for Self | Adam Walker
    2026/06/22

What if the most important turning point in life is learning to move from autopilot to conscious choice?

In this episode of Beyond Turning Points, Ash Perrow sits down with psychologist, musician, skateboarder and creator of the Breadcrumbs and Alarm Clocks framework, Adam Walker.

Adam shares the turning points that shaped his life, from spending much of infancy in hospital and witnessing his grandfather die suddenly as a child, through to discovering skateboarding, coding and music as powerful pathways to agency, creativity and self-discovery.

Together, Ash and Adam explore sovereignty, nervous systems, parts work, ADHD, creativity, parenting and the difference between living on autopilot and consciously choosing your path.

At the heart of the conversation is a simple but profound question:

How do we move from autopilot into sovereignty?

    In this episode we explore
    • The early experiences that shaped Adam’s nervous system
    • Witnessing his grandfather’s death at three years old
    • Discovering skateboarding, coding and music as pathways to growth
    • What sovereignty really means
    • Moving beyond autopilot

    2026/05/25

Kyran O’Donnell is a proud Barkindji man with a powerful and deeply human story.

Many people know Kyran through The Brother Boys where humour, brotherhood and positivity have helped him build a community of millions online.

But beneath the comedy is a much deeper journey.

In this episode of Beyond Turning Points, Kyran speaks openly about being removed from family as a child, violence, resilience, identity, survival and the moment he began reconnecting to country and to himself.

What unfolds is not just a conversation about Indigenous Australia.

It becomes a conversation about listening.

    Listening to country.

    Listening to yourself.

Listening beyond the noise of modern life.

    At one point, Kyran shares:

“I thought I knew who I was until I started listening again.”

    Together, Ash and Kyran explore:

    • Barkindji country and the significance of the Darling River
    • Growing up during the 90s and early 2000s in Australia
    • Being removed from his family
    • Colonisation and the disconnection many people experience from themselves and the land
    • Violence, masculinity and the search for identity
    • The warrior spirit within Aboriginal culture
    • Nature, intuition and connection to country
    • Spiritual experiences and inner knowing
    • Why many Australians are beginning to reconnect with country in a deeper way
    • Social media, leadership and using platforms to create unity and understanding

This is a yarn about identity, country, healing and what can happen when people begin listening differently to life.

  • Breaking Free From the Life You Were Taught to Live
    2026/05/11
A conversation with Manal Waugh on identity, freedom and the courage to change

There comes a moment where the life that once protected you starts to feel too small.

This week on Beyond Turning Points, Ash sits down with Manal Waugh, author of Lucid Dreams: Waking Up to What You Truly Are, former teacher, creative director and founder of an internationally recognised bridal label featured in Vogue.

What makes Manal’s story interesting is not just the range of worlds she’s moved through, but her understanding of what it takes to outgrow identities that once felt safe.

She grew up in a community where expectations around behaviour, belonging and who you could be were deeply ingrained into the culture. Later, even through successful careers and creative pursuits, she kept encountering the same deeper feeling:

“There has to be more to life than this.”

In this conversation, Ash and Manal explore what happens when the version of you that once helped you belong, succeed or stay safe begins to feel exhausting to maintain.

    Together, they speak about:

    • growing up inside strong cultural expectations
    • leaving teaching after deep misalignment with the system
    • building a successful fashion brand without formal training
    • identity as something we can outgrow
    • why freedom can feel confronting
    • inherited templates around who we’re supposed to be
    • creativity, ego and awakening
    • the tension between safety and aliveness

At one point in the episode, Manal says:

“Freedom feels terrifying because it asks you to let go of the version of yourself that once kept you safe.”

This conversation is thoughtful, honest, funny in parts and deeply human. It’s for anyone who has ever felt the tension between the life they’ve built and the life quietly trying to emerge underneath it.
