  • Sovereignty, ADHD & Skateboarding and the Search for Self | Adam Walker
    2026/06/22

What if the most important turning point in life is learning to move from autopilot to conscious choice?

In this episode of Beyond Turning Points, Ash Perrow sits down with psychologist, musician, skateboarder and creator of the Breadcrumbs and Alarm Clocks framework, Adam Walker.

Adam shares the turning points that shaped his life, from spending much of infancy in hospital and witnessing his grandfather die suddenly as a child, through to discovering skateboarding, coding and music as powerful pathways to agency, creativity and self-discovery.

Together, Ash and Adam explore sovereignty, nervous systems, parts work, ADHD, creativity, parenting and the difference between living on autopilot and consciously choosing your path.

At the heart of the conversation is a simple but profound question:

How do we move from autopilot into sovereignty?

    In this episode we explore
    • The early experiences that shaped Adam’s nervous system
    • Witnessing his grandfather’s death at three years old
    • Discovering skateboarding, coding and music as pathways to growth
    • What sovereignty really means
    • Moving beyond autopilot
    • Internal Family Systems and parts work
    • Why anxiety is often multiple signals happening at once
    • Adam’s research exploring skateboarding and ADHD
    • Creativity, pattern recognition and nervous system regulation
    • Why creative practices can support children with ADHD
    • Walking away from an abusive environment and reclaiming personal power
    • The lessons Kung Fu and meditation taught him about resilience
    • Parenting, presence and what matters most
    • The turning point Adam is living through right now

  • Breaking Free From the Life You Were Taught to Live
    2026/05/11
A conversation with Manal Waugh on identity, freedom and the courage to change

There comes a moment where the life that once protected you starts to feel too small.

This week on Beyond Turning Points, Ash sits down with Manal Waugh, author of Lucid Dreams: Waking Up to What You Truly Are, former teacher, creative director and founder of an internationally recognised bridal label featured in Vogue.

What makes Manal’s story interesting is not just the range of worlds she’s moved through, but her understanding of what it takes to outgrow identities that once felt safe.

She grew up in a community where expectations around behaviour, belonging and who you could be were deeply ingrained into the culture. Later, even through successful careers and creative pursuits, she kept encountering the same deeper feeling:

“There has to be more to life than this.”

In this conversation, Ash and Manal explore what happens when the version of you that once helped you belong, succeed or stay safe begins to feel exhausting to maintain.

    Together, they speak about:

    • growing up inside strong cultural expectations
    • leaving teaching after deep misalignment with the system
    • building a successful fashion brand without formal training
    • identity as something we can outgrow
    • why freedom can feel confronting
    • inherited templates around who we’re supposed to be
    • creativity, ego and awakening
    • the tension between safety and aliveness

At one point in the episode, Manal says:

“Freedom feels terrifying because it asks you to let go of the version of yourself that once kept you safe.”

This conversation is thoughtful, honest, funny in parts and deeply human. It’s for anyone who has ever felt the tension between the life they’ve built and the life quietly trying to emerge underneath it.

  • The 'Canopy Effect': Why People Pull Back From Being Seen
    2026/04/27

The more visible you become, the more exposed you can feel.

There’s a moment when you feel called to be seen… and something pulls you back.

    Why does that happen?

In this solo episode of Beyond Turning Points, Ash Perrow explores the tension between leading from your heart and the deep, primal need to belong.

If you’ve ever started showing up more… only to hesitate, overthink, or retreat after criticism, self-doubt, or fear of being judged arises, this conversation will help you understand what’s really happening beneath the surface... and how to move through it with strength.

    In this episode:

    • Why your nervous system prioritises belonging over visibility
    • The real reason criticism can stop your momentum
    • The difference between sensitivity and taking things personally
    • How criticism can guide you back to your inner power
    • A simple daily practice to rebuild self-trust

    Everything comes back to this:

Your inner power isn’t defined by what others think.
It’s revealed by how you respond.

  • Becoming Who You Truly Are - Nicky Convine
    2026/03/16
Becoming Who You Truly Are - Nicky Convine

Music, spiritual awakening and the journey of rediscovering who you truly are

What happens when the life you built stops working?

In this conversation with singer songwriter and sound healer Nicky Convine, we explore what it looks like when identity collapses, life shifts direction and music becomes the pathway back to yourself.

    In this conversation you’ll discover
    • How losing the identity you built can become the doorway to rediscovering your true self
    • Why voice, music and sound can become powerful tools for healing and transformation
    • How creative expression can reconnect you with purpose, wholeness and inner guidance

Sometimes life reaches a point where the structures we’ve built no longer feel true. The roles, expectations and identities that once gave us direction begin to feel empty or exhausting.

For some people that moment becomes a crisis.

For others it becomes the beginning of awakening.

Nicky shares the journey that led her from seeking validation externally to rediscovering herself through music, voice and inner guidance.

I invited Nicky onto the podcast not only because of her extraordinary voice and creative gifts, but because I’ve had the privilege of witnessing parts of her journey firsthand.

Over the years we’ve written songs together, performed together and shared many adventures as friends. I’ve seen how her relationship with music has evolved into something much deeper than performance.

For Nicky, music became the pathway back to herself.

    In this episode we explore
    • The story behind the song I Was Lost and the life changes surrounding it
    • Feeling externally successful while internally unfulfilled
    • The turning point that changed the direction of her life
    • Working with a coach and entering a period of deep inner transformation
    • Music as a lifeline during identity collapse
    • Letting go of external validation and rediscovering authenticity
    • Identity fluidity and the freedom to evolve beyond who you once were
    • Voice and sound as tools for healing and alignment
    • Social media comparison and the trap of upward comparison bias
    • Moving from scarcity and comparison into support and abundance
    Moments from the conversation

“What happens when you take everything away… what is left?”

“The voice is your own inbuilt tuning fork.”

“You don’t need to compare yourself to anyone.”

    • How near-death experiences can reshape the way we see life and purpose

What happens when life breaks you open, and instead of shutting down, you begin to return to yourself?

In this conversation, I’m joined by MJ, host of The Returned Podcast, for a heartfelt exploration of healing, courage, creativity and what it means to keep showing up for the life that’s calling you.

I first met MJ a few weeks ago when I appeared on her podcast. I was immediately struck by the calm, thoughtful way she holds space for deep conversations about spirituality, life experiences and the profound moments that reshape us.

We also talk about near-death experiences, intuition, synchronicity, purpose, community and the vulnerable process of creating something meaningful before you feel fully ready.

This is a conversation about trust.

    Trusting the timing.

    Trusting the path.

Trusting that even after everything, you can still begin again.

    In this episode, we explore:

    • How courage often begins with simply showing up before you feel ready

    • MJ’s journey through childhood abuse, unhealthy relationships and deep inner healing

    • The role of intuition, synchronicity and spiritual guidance in shaping a new path

    • Why creativity can become a form of meditation and self-return
