    Weight loss for women over 40 stops working the way it used to, and perimenopause and menopause are big reasons why. The eating and exercise that kept your weight in check in your 30s can stop delivering results after 40, so this episode covers what really changed and what to do about it.

    You haven't changed much. Same habits, same effort, maybe even more of it. But the weight is creeping up anyway, mostly around your stomach, and the approach that always reigned it in isn't doing the job now. Your body went through a real shift, and the old plan was built for the body you had ten years ago.

    I'm walking through the three changes that made the biggest difference in how my body looks and feels after 40, plus two smaller habits I now treat as non-negotiable.     Cardio for weight loss after 40 feels like the answer, but for a lot of women over 40, it's the reason the scale won't move, and the body won't change. If you're doing more cardio in perimenopause or menopause and getting little return on your investment, this episode is why.

    For years, I did it the way we were all taught: eat less, stay in a deficit, and do cardio to burn off my food. Marathons, the StairMaster, spin class, the whole thing. I was thin but worn out, and it all barely made a difference in how my body looked. Then I learned what truly changes a woman's body after 40, and it wasn't more cardio.

    Weight loss after 40 can leave you smaller and softer at the same time, even at your goal weight. In this episode, we're talking about why losing weight makes some women over 40 look worse, what "skinny fat" really means, and how to lose fat without losing your shape.

    Weight loss for women over 40 doesn't work the way it did in your 30s. Through perimenopause, the same eating and exercise that always got results stop moving the weight, and it's hard to understand why.

    For years, I thought eating very little and doing hours of cardio was discipline. I'd weigh myself every morning and let that one number set the tone for my entire day. I was working harder than ever, and my body slowly stopped producing the change it always had.

    In my mid-30s, I started to reverse five specific things I'd always believed I had to do to look the way I wanted. That's when the 20 pounds I'd been holding finally came off, and I've kept it off for 10 years straight through perimenopause. I'm a double-certified Nutrition and Fitness Coach, and I still had to learn these the hard way.

  • You're Losing More Than Just Fat on Your GLP-1

    On a GLP-1, a big chunk of the weight you lose can come from muscle instead of fat, and for women over 40 on Ozempic or Wegovy, that's the one kind of loss you don't want, especially in perimenopause.

    If you're on a GLP-1, thinking about starting one, or already off it, this episode is for you. Half the women in my life are on these drugs right now, and I'm not anti-medication at all. But for women in their 40s and 50s, what's happening underneath that weight loss matters just as much as the number you see on the scale, and it changes what you do while the medication is doing its job.

    I'll walk you through what's going on in your body on a GLP-1, the three things I'd prioritize if I were you, in order, and the one part of coming off the medication that most women skip and end up regretting. I'm a double-certified nutrition and fitness coach who lost 20 pounds in my mid-to-late 30s and kept it off for 10 years through perimenopause, and my whole focus is on making sure the weight you lose is fat and that it stays gone after the injections stop.

  • 5 Reasons Your Calorie Deficit Fails After 40

    So you're in a calorie deficit, you're being careful with your food, and the weight just won't budge. I've been exactly there, and I promise you there's a real reason for it. A deficit stops producing weight loss for women over 40 for reasons most people never think to look at, and once you see them, it makes so much sense.

    In this episode, I'm getting into what changes in perimenopause that makes losing weight so much harder than it used to be, and why the usual advice stops working the way it used to. A couple of these honestly didn't seem like that big of a deal until I cleaned them up, and they made a HUGE difference not only in my ability to lose the weight but also in keeping it off.
