  • Do The Right Thing (SERIES: Not Your Kids' Bible Stories)
    2025/08/31

Who are you to tell me what’s right or wrong? I’ve lived my life, I’ve made my own decisions, and I know what’s true. You can believe what you want, but it doesn’t mean it’s wrong. We all have different experiences, and what’s right for one person might not be for another. If I feel something is right, then it’s right for me. Anyway, we all deserve the freedom to decide for ourselves what’s best.

To many of us, that all looks good and sounds good. But what if every single sentence above is wrong. Where would that leave us? Join us Sunday as we find out.

  • The Weakest Man I Know (SERIES: Not Your Kids' Bible Stories)
    2025/08/24

When you think of a weak man, what comes to mind? Maybe it’s the guy who can’t open a jar of pickles without calling for backup. Maybe it’s the guy who can’t change a tire without calling AAA. Perhaps it’s the guy who wimps out when the extra spicy wings are served. Or maybe someone who’s just a little too nervous, or skittish, or timid.

But here’s the twist: the strongest man in history, the one who tears a lion apart with his bare hands, might prove to be the weakest of them all. Join us as we explore how even the mightiest men can be unexpectedly fragile—and how real strength sometimes shows up in the places we least expect.

  • Breaking Promises For Jesus
    2025/08/17

Some promises bind us to a future we never should have agreed to. They might have been made in a moment of fear, pride, or desperation, but once spoken, they start steering our lives in destructive directions. The trouble is, we often think “keeping our word” is automatically noble—even when the vow itself is rotten. But the truth is that faithfulness to an unfaithful vow is not faithful at all.

This week at BCC, we’re diving into the worst vow in all of Scripture —a single, tragic promise that spiraled into needless pain and loss. But here’s the thing: many of us make the very same vow without even realizing it, and in our hearts, we’ve signed the same dangerous contract. Together, we’ll uncover how to recognize it, why it’s so terrible, and how to break free before it breaks us and our families.

  • Crushing It (SERIES: Not Your Kids' Bible Stories)
    2025/08/10

We all want to be crushing it. Maybe you’re conquering your career, owning your workout plan, or moonlighting your way to side-hustle stardom. But what if your version of “crushing it” is secretly crushing you? And what if your reason for crushing it is actually crippling you?

This week, we’re diving into the story of a guy who had it all—until his version of crushing it ended up crushing him…literally. His ambition was unmatched, and he advanced to power with ruthless efficiency, leaving a trail of destruction, much like his father.

Join us as we figure out how to pursue a life of success that doesn’t flatten us in the process.

  • Fear and Loathing in Midian (SERIES: Not Your Kids' Bible Stories)
    2025/08/03

Fear and loathing, a potent and perilous cocktail. When consumed by these powerful emotions, individuals can be motivated to bring great change or spiral into destructive patterns, harming themselves and those around them. Johnny Depp gave us a great, albeit extreme, showcasing of how an unchecked descent into paranoia and resentment can distort reality, leading to a profound sense of isolation and disillusionment. So, what then do we do when we encounter these unsettling forces, not just in a cinema seat, but within our sacred texts, or maybe more uncomfortably, within ourselves?

This week at BCC, we explore fear and loathing in scripture. And just like Depp’s 1998 cult classic, our story has some adult-themed content. But, if we can find God at work in the most challenging stories of scripture, maybe we can find him at work in the most challenging parts of our lives.

  • Camping Out (SERIES: Not Your Kids' Bible Stories)
    2025/07/27

Camping. It’s supposed to be all about fresh air, starry skies, and bonding with nature, but in reality, it’s more about fighting with a tent that won’t cooperate and accidentally roasting marshmallows to charcoal. And then there’s the wildlife—squirrels plotting a snack heist and raccoons holding meetings about your granola bars. I’ve had my share of camping fails, but none come close to the legendary story of Sisera & Jael we’re exploring this week. Trust me, this makes my tent pole incident seem like a walk in the park.

This week, we’re diving into the tale of the worst camping injury ever imagined a tent spike straight through the head. And why—despite how gruesome it sound — it holds some deep lessons for us today. This is not your family campout and it is certainly Not Your Kid’s Bible Story.

  • Am I Enough? (SERIES: Not Your Kids' Bible Stories)
    2025/07/20

We’ve all heard it: “I am enough.” It sounds empowering. But what if, deep down, you’re not buying it? What if the truth is, you don’t feel like enough - and maybe never have?

Join us for a raw, honest conversation about weakness, doubt, and the limits of self-affirmation. We’re peeling back the polished slogans to wrestle with what it really means to be human - and to need help. Oh, and yes- there’s also a cool assassin story involved. Intrigued? You should be.

This isn’t a tidy Sunday School lesson. It’s not your kid’s bible story. It’s something better.
