  • We Have a Type...Apparently | Back at the Trailer Ep.7
    2026/10/06

Apparently, we have a type—and this episode proves it.

We’re talking all things horsepower: what catches our attention, what we look for in a rodeo horse, the qualities we love, and the quirks we’re willing to overlook. From breeding and build to brains, ability, and personality, we’re breaking down what makes us say, “Yep, that’s our kind of horse.”

  • Keeping Everyone Alive | Back at the Trailer Ep. 6
    2026/09/29

The horses need watered, the kids need fed, somebody needs sleep, and Mom is probably running on caffeine and whatever was left in the snack bag.

In this episode, we’re talking about what it takes to keep both horses and kids healthy when rodeo life means long weekends on the road, hours in the practice pen, late nights, early mornings, and a schedule that doesn't always leave a whole lot of room for rest.

We’re sharing what works for our families when it comes to nutrition, hydration, rest, recovery, and keeping everyone feeling their best through a busy rodeo and practice schedule. We also talk about knowing when it’s time to push through, when it’s time to slow down, and why taking care of the athlete matters—whether they have two legs or four.

Are we doing everything perfectly? Absolutely not.

But everybody is fed, watered, mostly sound, and headed to the next one—so we’re calling that a win.

  • Everybody Calm Down | Back at the Trailer Ep.5
    2026/09/15

Everybody calm down, we’re about to rodeo.

    Easier said than done, right?

In this episode, we’re talking about the mental side of rodeo and what happens before—and after—the run. From our pre-run routines and pep talks to figuring out when our kids need encouragement, when they need us to say absolutely nothing, and when everybody involved might just need a minute.

We talk about how much mindset can affect a run, how we try to help our kids get their heads in the game without adding more pressure, and what our routines look like leading up to competition.

And then there’s the part that can sometimes be even harder: after the run. Whether it was a great run, a bad run, a missed opportunity, or one they'd really rather forget, we talk about helping our kids process it, learn from it, and move on to the next one.

Because sometimes the hardest part of rodeo has nothing to do with what happens in the arena—and sometimes the rodeo moms need to calm down too.

  • Somebody’s Gotta Pay the Entry Fees | Back at the Trailer Ep.4
    2026/09/01

There’s a whole lot more to rodeo than what happens when you back into the box.

In this episode, we’re talking about the work no one sees—the hours in the practice pen, taking care of horses, putting in the reps, and all the work it takes to be ready when it’s finally time to compete.

Then there’s the work happening on the other side of the arena fence. The jobs, schedules, planning, hauling, entry fees, and everyday juggling that goes into helping our kids chase some pretty big rodeo goals. Turns out, those goals don't exactly fund—or schedule—themselves.

And then there’s the village. Because if you’ve ever tried to get through a rodeo weekend with multiple events, horses, kids, conflicting schedules, and only two hands, you already know—sometimes it takes a small army. We’re talking about the friends, family, coaches, hauling buddies, and fellow rodeo parents who step in, help out, hold a horse, get a kid where they need to be, and somehow help keep the whole circus moving.

It may be one kid backing into the box, but there are usually a whole lot of people who helped get them there.

  • Balance? Never Heard of Her
    2026/08/26

How do you balance rodeo with… well, everything else?

This week, we’re talking about trying to juggle rodeo, work, school, family, marriage, friendships, and all the regular-life stuff that apparently doesn’t stop just because there’s a rodeo this weekend.

We’re sharing what works for us, what definitely doesn’t, the things we’ve learned to let go of, and whether “balance” is even the right word for it.

Because sometimes having it all together just means everyone made it to the rodeo with the right kid, the right horse, and most of what was supposed to be in the trailer.

  • How did we get here?
    2026/08/26

How exactly did rodeo become such a big part of our lives?

In this episode, we’re going back to the beginning — how our families got started in rodeo, the paths that brought each of us here, and how something that started out pretty simple somehow turned into horses, trailers, questionable financial decisions, miles on the road, and a whole lot of weekends spent at the arena instead of doing literally anything practical.

Two families. Two very different roads. And somehow, we both ended up Back at the Trailer.
