    2026/10/13
BTH PODCAST | EPISODE 2: WHY ARE WE FIGHTING ABOUT EVERYTHING?

Why does it feel like we can no longer agree on anything? From social issues and relationships to everyday conversations, disagreement seems to be everywhere. Have we forgotten how to listen, or have we become so attached to being right that we no longer make room for understanding?

In this episode of BTH Podcast, we unpack the culture of constant disagreement, the need to be heard, the pressure to defend our opinions, and the growing difficulty of having honest conversations without turning them into arguments.

Are we really becoming more divided, or are we simply finding it harder to understand one another?

    Let's talk about it.

  • Why Do We Respect People After Success? BTH TALK SHOW/EMMANUEL P. MAKATE PODCAST S2 PREMIERE
    2026/10/05
Beyond the Horizon Talk Show with Emmanuel Makate is the restructured and reimagined continuation of what was formerly known as the Emmanuel P. Makate Podcast.

Hosted by young author and interviewer Emmanuel P. Makate, the show began in Season One as a literary and author-focused podcast, creating space for conversations with writers, young voices and people with stories worth hearing.

Season One became a journey of discovery — through books, personal experiences, creativity, ambition, grief, identity and the many different stories that shape young people and their communities. It ended with an episode featuring the Thobejane twins, Lilly and Laiah Thobejane.

But the show has now reached a new point.

Season Two marks a formal reform and restructure of the platform.

The name has changed from the Emmanuel P. Makate Podcast to Beyond the Horizon Talk Show, also known as BTH Talk Show, with Emmanuel Makate remaining as the host.

The change reflects a broader direction for the programme. While Season One was strongly rooted in literature and authors, Season Two moves beyond a single subject and creates room for conversations about people, stories, culture, ability, social issues, ideas, reviews and experiences that deserve a wider audience.

The purpose is simple: to have meaningful conversations that go beyond the obvious.

This is not about abandoning where the show came from. It is about building on it.

The Emmanuel P. Makate Podcast was the beginning. Beyond the Horizon is the next chapter.

Formerly known as the Emmanuel P. Makate Podcast, Beyond the Horizon Talk Show with Emmanuel Makate represents a new identity, a wider conversation and a platform designed to look beyond the person holding the microphone.

    Season Two has arrived.

  • Discussing Voices of The Future Poetry Anthology: Emmanuel's Own Compilation!
    2026/08/23
Review of Voices of the Future

In this episode, I take a closer look at Voices of the Future, an anthology that brings together emerging literary voices, ideas and perspectives that speak to the present while imagining what comes next.

This is more than a collection of poems and creative expressions. It is a reflection of young voices finding language for their experiences, communities and ambitions. In my review, I explore the writing, the themes, the voices behind the pages and the significance of creating spaces where new writers can be heard.

And as we celebrate the power of artistic voices, this episode also comes at an important moment for the Azanian Arts Union, whose work continues to build a platform around youth, creativity and community.

A New Chapter for the Azanian Arts Union!

As conversations around literature, creativity and the future of African arts continue to grow, the Azanian Arts Union is also entering a new chapter.

The Union has brought together an executive board to help carry its work forward — strengthening its focus on youth, creativity, communication and community.

At the heart of this new chapter is Chairperson Manthuseng Nkone, alongside Secretary-General Tshireletso Petlane, Marketing Chief General Owami Nkosi, and PR & Communications Managers Karabo Mthombeni and Mbalenhle Mroq.

It is a team with different strengths, but a shared responsibility: to help create spaces where artists, writers and young creative voices can be seen, heard and taken seriously.

Because when a new generation begins to speak, the responsibility is not only to listen — but to build something that allows those voices to travel further.

That fits naturally into your book review without making the episode sound like a corporate board announcement.
