BEYOND THE HORIZON TALK SHOW

BTH Talk Show

Formerly known as the Emmanuel P. Makate Podcast, Beyond the Horizon Talk Show (BTH Talk Show) is a new chapter, a new identity and a broader conversation.

Reaching audiences across 17 countries, BTH Talk Show is a vibrant, engaging and conversational platform exploring subjects of common interest. From current affairs and trending music to sports, youth culture and compelling guest interviews, the show brings together conversations designed to inform, entertain, educate and inspire.

At the centre of the show is its host, 15-year-old author, poet, publisher, Union President and Creative Director Emmanuel Makate, born and raised in the dusty streets of Steynsrus, Free State Province. Emmanuel brings a distinctly South African flair to the programme, combining youthful charisma, curiosity and a passion for storytelling with conversations that matter.

Beyond the Horizon represents the show's ambition to look further.

Beyond the immediate story, beyond the obvious conversation and beyond the limitations placed on young voices.

This new continuation of the programme places particular emphasis on literary strengthening and youth upliftment, while creating room for conversations around the issues, people, culture and ideas shaping today's generation.

From the books we read and the music we hear, to the current affairs we discuss, the sports we follow and the people whose stories deserve to be heard, BTH Talk Show goes beyond the horizon to explore what lies ahead.

A new name. A new identity. A wider horizon.

On this meritorious episode, we officially launch the Emmanuel P. Makate Podcast under its new name: BTH Talk Show with Emmanuel Makate.

Our focus turns to South African author
Khensani Sayiya and her poetry collection, I Saw It with My Naked Eye. Emmanuel shares a delightful message from a previous conversation with her, where she opened up about how her experiences with bullying shaped and carved her into the woman she is today.

We also share an important update regarding a shared initiative with Lerato Lechalaba, the Voices of Ability Podcast. Due to prolonged inactivity surrounding the show, a decision has been made regarding the hosting position previously held by Andiswa Mvandaba.

Our team is handling this transition. As Emmanuel noted: "A decision has been taken that I will take over the host position. We are disappointed by the inactivity, and at this time we will be moving forward separately from Miss Mvandaba and her brand. That is all we can say for now.”

BTH PODCAST | EPISODE 2: WHY ARE WE FIGHTING ABOUT EVERYTHING?

Why does it feel like we can no longer agree on anything? From social issues and relationships to everyday conversations, disagreement seems to be everywhere. Have we forgotten how to listen, or have we become so attached to being right that we no longer make room for understanding?

In this episode of BTH Podcast, we unpack the culture of constant disagreement, the need to be heard, the pressure to defend our opinions, and the growing difficulty of having honest conversations without turning them into arguments.

Are we really becoming more divided, or are we simply finding it harder to understand one another?

    Let's talk about it.

Why Do We Respect People After Success? BTH TALK SHOW/EMMANUEL P. MAKATE PODCAST S2 PREMIERE
    2026/10/05
Beyond the Horizon Talk Show with Emmanuel Makate is the restructured and reimagined continuation of what was formerly known as the Emmanuel P. Makate Podcast.

Hosted by young author and interviewer Emmanuel P. Makate, the show began in Season One as a literary and author-focused podcast, creating space for conversations with writers, young voices and people with stories worth hearing.

Season One became a journey of discovery — through books, personal experiences, creativity, ambition, grief, identity and the many different stories that shape young people and their communities. It ended with an episode featuring the Thobejane twins, Lilly and Laiah Thobejane.

But the show has now reached a new point.

Season Two marks a formal reform and restructure of the platform.

The name has changed from the Emmanuel P. Makate Podcast to Beyond the Horizon Talk Show, also known as BTH Talk Show, with Emmanuel Makate remaining as the host.

The change reflects a broader direction for the programme. While Season One was strongly rooted in literature and authors, Season Two moves beyond a single subject and creates room for conversations about people, stories, culture, ability, social issues, ideas, reviews and experiences that deserve a wider audience.

The purpose is simple: to have meaningful conversations that go beyond the obvious.

This is not about abandoning where the show came from. It is about building on it.

The Emmanuel P. Makate Podcast was the beginning. Beyond the Horizon is the next chapter.

Formerly known as the Emmanuel P. Makate Podcast, Beyond the Horizon Talk Show with Emmanuel Makate represents a new identity, a wider conversation and a platform designed to look beyond the person holding the microphone.

    Season Two has arrived.

    Welcome to BTH Talk Show.
