One of the biggest lies we’ve all been believing is that crying makes you weak.
That if tears come, something has gone wrong.
That you’re failing.
That you should pull yourself together.
It’s such a strange lie when you really look at it.
Because the truth is the complete opposite.
Crying is healing.
Those tears leaving your eyes are not random.
They come from a place deep inside you that has needed to be felt, expressed, and released. Pain. Sadness. Grief. Longing. Relief. Truth.
Tears are emotion in motion.
And when we don’t let emotion move, it doesn’t disappear. It stays inside us. It settles into our bodies. It tightens. It hardens. It waits.
This is where so much suffering begins.
Depression.
Exhaustion.
Insomnia.
Chronic pain.
Anxiety.
Illness.
That quiet sense of being unwell without knowing why.
These things don’t happen by coincidence.
So often, they are the body carrying what the heart was never allowed to feel.
We live in a world that praises control and composure, but punishes release. A world that teaches us to swallow tears, numb them, distract from them, apologise for them. And then we wonder why so many people feel disconnected, depleted, and unwell.
Your body is not broken.
Your tears are not a problem.
They are one of your most ancient healing mechanisms.
So next time a cry rises, what if you didn’t rush to stop it?
What if you made it a meditation?
As each tear forms, let yourself stay with it.
Feel it gather.
Follow it as it leaves your eye.
Notice its warmth.
Track its slow path as it trails down your cheek.
That tiny drop holds something profound.
That tear is carrying out of you something you no longer need to hold alone.
The magnitude of healing contained in a single tear is astonishing when you really allow yourself to be present with it. It is release made visible. It is your inner world finally being allowed to move.
If you can let yourself cry the next time a cry comes, really cry, without judging it, fixing it, or analysing it, and simply be with your tears as they leave your body, you are doing some of the deepest healing work there is.
No mantra required.
No explanation needed.
Just permission.
You are not weak when you cry.
You are brave enough to let your body heal itself.
And that is powerful.
Sending love wherever you are around the world,
