Today on Resilience2Redemption, Annie Smith, the mother of Anthony Lamar Smith, breaks her silence on the injustice that continues even after her son’s death. Anthony was killed in 2011 by City of St. Louis police officer Jason Stockley, who was later acquitted in 2017. Now, years later, Annie has discovered a settlement agreement drafted in 2019—one she never signed, never saw, and never consented to. While nearly $460,000 dollars was allocated to a woman claiming her son fathered a child, without DNA done with the mother Annie Smith since her son Anthony Lamar Smith was deceased. Annie herself was offered only $80,000 before attorney fees. With expired notary seals and hidden paperwork, her attorney withheld the truth for nearly six years, submitted it to her in an email on August 28, 2025 stating he have a disbursement for her on behalf of a settlement she did not sign denying her the right to fight for justice.
But Annie refuses to accept silence. Her message is clear: “I did not sign. I did not agree. And I will not stop until my son’s life is honored with the justice he deserves.” This is more than one mother’s fight—it is a warning to families across America about how the system tries to bury truth beneath settlements and deception. Annie’s voice is unshakable, her love unbreakable, and her stand for justice undeniable.
