  • Animal Party Episode 280 500 Cats, Singing Mice & a Dog With Something to Say
    2026/09/01
Deb Wolfe reads a text complaining about a reactive dog at the farmers' market making other dogs anxious. Deborah explains step by step what you can do to teach your reactive dog to be calmer with other dogs and to make dog friends. Have you ever wanted to surround yourself with quirky cats? You can buy a ticket to visit RAPS cat sanctuary near the Vancouver Airport, and experience 500 cats! Did you know that mice sing love songs? And Deb Wolfe warns don't judge the dog by the tail! A wagging tail is not always a happy greeting. Today's riddle is which animal received 2500 birthday cards?

In the UK beavers are being reintroduced as part of a 'rewild' program that is working perfectly. Deb Wolfe reports on two bear attacks yesterday and the need to never feed wildlife near your home or places people play. Fruit trees, garbage and intentional feeding are part of the problem that makes a 'fed bear a dead bear' but also a dangerous bear.

Right now, there are terrible fires and if you are being evacuated in British Columbia and need a place for your social vaccinated dog please call us at 604-515-2267 and leave a message and we will receive your dog at 9-930 am or 5-530 pm for boarding at half price for as long as you need us at Camp Good Dog. Your dog can get out of the smoke, and into a place set up for dogs with five acres of fenced fields and pond and friendly staff to pamper and help them get over the evacuation and fire trauma. If you are fleeing the fires please leave water out for displaced pets, livestock and wildlife who may be passing through to escape the smoke and flames.

    2026/07/07
Deborah describes some differences between wolves and dogs including bite force and gives you some basic facts about wolves and the issue of the cull. Deb Wolfe asks ‘ Why do we decide it’s a choice between wolves vs caribou when it’s our fault the wolves can reach the caribou through corridors we made into the forest?’ also in other areas where wolves were hunted later on problems with overpopulation of larger animals hurt the smaller and the wolves had to be returned to restore the vegetation so all species would have food. Do you believe the wolf cull should happen? Do you believe it’s ok to capture one wolf, radio collar it and then track it back to its pack to shoot them all from a helicopter? The riddle of the day is what popular cocktail in Canada has a connection to an animal that was rescued? Did you know that cats have expanding and flexible spines? Deb Wolfe teaches you and demonstrates how to howl so dogs will join you and howl along with you.
