There’s theology hiding in ordinary life — in routines, in distractions, in the moments we rush past. Most of us move too quickly to notice. Anchor Points is a short, story-driven devotional hosted by Devin Almonte. Each episode lingers over something familiar and uncovers what Scripture has been saying about it all along. This isn’t a rushed devotional or a motivational boost. It’s steady formation. Quiet conviction. Truth that anchors.Copyright 2026 Devin Almonte キリスト教 スピリチュアリティ 聖職・福音主義

  • What Your Waiting Period Exposes About You | Anchor Points | Ep. 64
    2026/07/21

Waiting can look like sitting at a red light or being placed on hold. It can also look like waiting for healing, justice, an answer, or the resolution of something that has lasted far longer than expected.

I am walking through a season of waiting right now. I have been waiting for more than a year for a situation to be resolved, and I am learning that waiting exposes how much I really trust God.

The best way I have found to wait is to seek Him without demanding a particular outcome. I can ask Him to set things right while remembering that He is still present and working, even when I cannot see what He is doing.

    Scripture (ESV):

Romans 8:28: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

    Reflection Questions:

    • What am I waiting for right now?
    • Has waiting caused me to question whether God sees or hears me?
    • How can I seek God while the outcome remains uncertain?

  • You Are Ruining Your Best Conversations By Doing This | Anchor Points | Ep. 63

Errands are not usually the most exciting part of the day. I often want to complete them quickly and move on. But God has been showing me that these ordinary moments can create space for meaningful connection.

One day, I invited my daughter to come along while I picked up a few things. Nothing important seemed to be happening at first. Then, after a little time in the car, we started talking about school, friendships, struggles, and the things she was excited about.

Sometimes the conversations we hope for begin during the moments we almost rush through alone. The next ordinary errand might become an opportunity to listen, connect, and be present with someone we love.

    Scripture (ESV):

Proverbs 20:5: “The purpose in a man’s heart is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out.”

    Reflection Questions:

    • What ordinary part of my routine could become an opportunity for connection?
    • Is there someone I could invite to come along with me this week?
    • How can I become a more patient and present listener?

  • The Airplane Encounter That Was Actually a Setup | Anchor Points | Ep. 62
    2026/07/15

Have you ever felt strangely drawn to someone without knowing why? That happened to me on a flight home from college, before I was even a believer.

I chose a middle seat next to a woman I had never met. After we landed, she asked if I was Devin and whether I attended Gettysburg College. Then she explained that my mom was in her Bible study group and that she had been praying for me for years. She had even brought a book that she felt she was supposed to give me.

I still think about what drew me to her that day. Maybe it was the light of Christ showing through her life before I even understood what I was seeing. God can arrange moments we could never plan, so let’s stay open to the people and opportunities He places in front of us.

    Scripture (ESV):

Matthew 5:16: “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

    Reflection Questions:

    • Have I ever felt unexpectedly drawn to someone?
    • Could God be inviting me to notice or encourage someone today?
    • What does the light of Christ look like in my everyday interactions?
