Errands are not usually the most exciting part of the day. I often want to complete them quickly and move on. But God has been showing me that these ordinary moments can create space for meaningful connection.
One day, I invited my daughter to come along while I picked up a few things. Nothing important seemed to be happening at first. Then, after a little time in the car, we started talking about school, friendships, struggles, and the things she was excited about.
Sometimes the conversations we hope for begin during the moments we almost rush through alone. The next ordinary errand might become an opportunity to listen, connect, and be present with someone we love.
Scripture (ESV):
Proverbs 20:5: “The purpose in a man’s heart is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out.”
Reflection Questions:
- What ordinary part of my routine could become an opportunity for connection?
- Is there someone I could invite to come along with me this week?
- How can I become a more patient and present listener?
