  • Are You Investing in the Wrong Kind of Maintenance? | Anchor Points | Ep. 17
    2026/04/03

When was the last time you really stopped to look at where you were spending your time and money and what it says about what you actually value?

You've probably driven past the same strip mall a hundred times without really seeing it. The strip mall I was in had a dentist, a nail salon, a hair salon, a weight loss center, an acupuncture place — body, body, body, everywhere I looked. And honestly? I'm all for it. Taking care of ourselves physically is a good thing. But we don't think twice about any of it.

In today's Anchor Point, I'm talking about the time and money we pour into our physical upkeep and what it might look like to give even half that effort to our spiritual health.

    Today’s Scripture:

1 Timothy 4:8 – "For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come."

  • Why Doesn’t God Make This Easier? | Anchor Points | Ep. 17
    2026/04/02

Faith isn’t about everything getting easier, it’s about who we walk with when it doesn’t. When life feels heavy, uncertain, or unresolved, it reveals where we’re really looking for peace.

In this Anchor Point, I reflect on what Jesus actually promised and how easy it is to chase comfort instead of something deeper. I hope it challenges you to rethink what we expect from faith and where we turn when life doesn’t go the way we hoped.

Peace isn’t found in everything working out, it’s found in the presence of God walking with us through it.

    Scripture (NIV):

    • John 16:33 – “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
    • Philippians 4:7 – “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
    • Isaiah 43:2 – “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.”

    Reflection Questions:

    • Where do I turn first when life gets hard?
    • Am I looking for a way out, or trusting God to walk me through?
    • What would it look like to seek God’s presence instead of quick relief?

  • Why Trying Harder Is Making It Worse (And What God Says About It) | Anchor Points | Ep. 16
    2026/04/01

A faith devotional with Devin Almonte.

Tangled cords. Tangled life. Learning to trust God when life won't come loose.

You know that moment, you reach into a drawer, pull out a big knotted mess of cords, and just start yanking. And every time you do, it gets worse.

Yeah. We do that in real life too.

Today's Anchor Point is a short faith devotional. James 1:4 has something to say about the knots we keep making tighter.

"Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

Where in your life are you pulling harder when maybe God is saying — just let it go?

Head over to Facebook and let's talk about it.

  • What If You’re Holding Onto Something You Don’t Even See? | Anchor Points | Ep. 15
    2026/03/30

Have you ever had food stuck in your teeth and no one told you?

Or something on your shirt that didn’t belong, but you only noticed later?

And deeper still…are there things in your life that don’t belong, but you haven’t let God remove them?

We’ve all experienced the awkward moment of realizing something was “off” and no one said a word. The truth is, we’d rather someone lovingly point it out than let us keep walking around unaware.

In our spiritual lives, it’s no different.

God, in His love, reveals what doesn’t belong in us or on us, not to shame us, but to grow us. He sees what we can’t always see. And because you are His masterpiece, He cares enough to prune what’s getting in the way of your purpose.

But sometimes, we don’t always want to let go.

    Scripture (NIV):

John 15:2 – “He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”

What’s something in your life you know doesn’t belong, but you’ve been holding onto anyway?

What would it look like to fully trust God and let Him remove it?

  • The Webs We Keep Rebuilding | Anchor Points
    2026/03/25

Like a spider rebuilding its web, we often rely on our own effort to hold everything together.

In today’s Anchor Point, Devin reflects on grace vs effort.

    1. Why we keep trying to “earn” enough
    2. How self-reliance falls apart
    3. What it means to stand on grace

    Scripture (NIV):

Ephesians 2:8–9 – “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith… not by works.”

  • Are You Building Someone Else’s Life? | Anchor Points with Devin Almonte
    2026/03/24

Have you looked at LEGO sets lately?

Almost every one of them comes pre-loaded with someone else's story. Star Wars. Marvel. Minecraft. You're not really building anymore. You're just recreating what someone else already made and tells us to build.

I noticed it over Christmas and couldn’t find a simple set to build a simple town or store without a brand attached to it.

We do this too. Somewhere along the way we start attaching ourselves to labels and groups and someone else's ready-made story. Are you the crunchy mom or the career woman? The conservative Christian or the progressive one? And after a while those things start to feel like identity. Like that's just who we are. We build up a story that really isn’t who we are.

But First Samuel 16:7 says the Lord doesn't look at any of that. He looks at the heart.

God gives us the pieces. He even gives us a plan. But what gets built from those pieces is uniquely yours from the Lord. The story He's writing through you won't look exactly like anyone else's.

You're not meant to build someone else's set.

💬 Want to talk about it?

What labels have shaped how you see yourself?

What would it look like to let God define you instead? .

  • We Say We Want Feedback, But Do We Really? | Anchor Points with Devin Almonte
    2026/03/23

When was the last time someone told you something you didn’t want to hear?

And more importantly, how did you respond?

Suggestion boxes used to invite feedback, but today, we’re far less open to it.

In today’s Anchor Point, Devin explores why we resist correction and why Scripture calls it valuable.

    1. Why we’ve grown uncomfortable with feedback
    2. How defensiveness holds us back
    3. Why honest friends are a gift

    Scripture (NIV):

Proverbs 27:6 – “Wounds from a friend can be trusted.”

  • You Might Be Following Too Many Voices | Anchor Points
    2026/03/18

    Who are you following?

And how many voices are shaping your life right now?

Social media has changed what it means to “follow.”

We follow hundreds of people—celebrities, influencers, experts—all speaking into how we should live. And without realizing it, it can start to feel like we’re being pulled in a hundred different directions.

But when Jesus said “follow me,” He meant something quite different.

    Scripture (NIV):

Luke 9:23 – “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
