    Jayadratha was the king of the Sindhu kingdom featured in the Mahabharata. He was married to Dushala, the only sister of the hundred Kaurava brothers. During the time the Pandavas were in exile, Draupadi was alone at the ashram. On that day, Jayadratha went to Draupadi and proposed to marry her. Draupadi vehemently refused his proposal.

  • Episode 6: Ashwathama

    Ashwatthama is the son of Guru Drona and a major character in The Mahabharata. In the epic, he serves as a friend to Duryodhana. He was trained in warfare along with the Kauravas and the Pandavas by his father, Drona. He fought on the side of the Kauravas against the Pandavas in the Kurukshetra War and was cursed by Krishna with immortality for his attempt to kill Uttara’s unborn child. Ashwatthama had gained knowledge of various divine weapons, namely the Narayanastra, Brahmastra, Brahmashirastra, and many others.

    Vidura was born through Niyoga between the sage Vyasa and Parishrami, a handmaiden to the queens Ambika and Ambalika. He was the stepbrother of Dhritarashtra and Pandu. But because his mother was a handmaid rather than a queen, his status was always lower than his two half-brothers. After Krishna, Vidura was the most respected as an adviser by the Pandavas, whom he forewarned on various occasions of Duryodhana's plots to exterminate them, such as Duryodhana's plan to burn them alive in the Lakshagriha.

  • Episode 15: Yayati

    Yayati is described to be a Chandravamsha king. He is regarded to be the progenitor of the races of the Yadavas and the Pandavas. He is considered in some texts to be the son of King Nahusha, and his wife, Ashokasundari. He married Devayani, the daughter of Shukracharya, and also took Sharmishtha, daughter of King Vrishaparvan, and the maid of Devayani, as his mistress. Upon hearing of his relationship with Sharmishtha, Devayani complained to her father, who in turn cursed Yayati to old age in the prime of life, but later allowed him to exchange it with his son, Puru. His story finds mention in the Mahabharata's Adi Parva.

    Barbarika was the son of Ghatotkacha (Son of Bhima). He was one of the major powerful warriors in Mahabharata who could change the outcome of the battle in just a few minutes. He was the devotee of Devi Durga and lord Shiva. He was bound by his principle of always fighting on the weaker side, which led him to stand witness to the Kurukshetra war without taking part in it. Barbarika told Krishna of his great desire to view the forthcoming battle and requested him to facilitate the same. Krishna agreed and placed the head on top of a hill overlooking the battlefield. From the hill, the head of Barbarika watched the entire battle.
