It’s a packed week in Alaska sports! The crew recaps a wild weekend that featured Elijah Wood dropping the ceremonial puck for the Anchorage Wolverines on Friday night — yes, that Elijah Wood! The Wolverines kept the good vibes rolling, winning 3 of their last 4 games to start November strong.

We preview the ASAA 3A/4A Volleyball State Championships at the Alaska Airlines Center, Nov. 13–15, where both brackets are absolutely loaded. The 4A field is stacked with power programs, and as our friend Nick reminded us, the Peninsula teams are no joke this year in 3A. Who’s going to take home the state titles? Over in college action, the UAA Men’s Basketball team gears up for the Alaska/Hawaii Challenge alongside UAF, set for Nov. 15–16 at the Alaska Airlines Center. The UAA Volleyball team is on fire after knocking off two Top 25 opponents last week, and UAA Women’s Basketball sharpshooter Elina Mack made history with 10 three-pointers, breaking the school record in their latest win.

And don’t miss the Anchorage Wolverines’ Military Appreciation Weekend — a huge two-game series against the Wisconsin Windigo with a special jersey auction supporting military families. Join the crowd at the Sullivan Arena, Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm for great hockey and a great cause!
