Are you or do you know somebody that is or was adopted?

As followers of Christ we have been ADOPTED into God's family through the sacrifice and blood of Jesus.

We will discuss the implications of being adopted into a new family.

These all tell of how we as Christians are brought into a new family by the Love God has for us and how we have become heirs along with Jesus.

ASSURANCE

What do we have assurance of as believers in Christ?

Matthew 11:28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.

This is the assurance of rest when you put Jesus first in your life.

Put your rest in Him and his

ROMANS 8:8 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Being in Him and He in us we can have the assurance of His redemption in our walk with Him.

Learn on God and not your own understanding.

Valparaiso University basketball head coach Roger Powell was in the studio.

Today we finish up our time with Coach Powell and truly thank Him for joining us in the studio and for being our keynote speaker for our first men's Conference.

The Anchormen held their first Men's Conference on August 21st and our keynote speaker that evening was head coach of the VU men's basketball team Roger Powell Jr.

When coach Powell joined the VU Beacons as head coach in 2023, the team went 7-23 for the year but since that first year, Powell has changed the culture of the team and is helping to raise up young men to respect others and play basketball as playing for Jesus. The young men are learning to compete but also to know what it is to be a man, not just a basketball player.

Coach lays out his philosophy and shares some of the things that have helped turn a losing team into a powerhouse team of young men working together for God's glory.

Off the court, Coach Powell began the Rev Foundation Inc.

Investing in kids and turning them into leaders of their generation much like Powell. Powell is a prime example of what can happen when you dedicate your life to Christ and Powell wants to share that process with as many individuals as he possibly can.

THE ANCHORMEN break a tradition

In 48 episodes of Anchomen, anchored in Grace, Bob, Todd and John have not interviewed a woman on this podcast.

The AnchorMEN have exclusively invited and talked with men about the impact that being in and building solid relationships with other men has been.

This week, we decided that we would invite a wife of one of the Anchormen to give us a glimpse of the change that being an Anchormen has made on one of our own.

Kathy and Jim share stories on how they met, church background, and how connecting with other men has made a difference in Jim Cross's walk with Jesus.

A couple years have gone by now and Jim is still amazed at the amount of people that were affected by a hurricane in North Carolina and we hear how that opened Jim's eyes to realize how thankful he is to have all that God has provided for him.

Gods Will remix

What is God's Will remix? Glad you ask.

This week here in Valparaiso and northwest Indiana, there was major wind damage and power outages all over the area due to the high winds.

Because our "studio" where we record our podcast was without electricity (as was most of the two counties here), we had to put our work on hold for the week and we decided to pull out one of our first Anchormen Podcasts and give you a glimpse of where we began.

We had just went through the loss of one of our fellow Anchormen, Scot Tuft, and as we mourned our loss, we knew that this was God's Will and not ours. We still miss Scott tremendously and this episode reminds me that no matter what STORMS life may put you through, God's Will is what prevails.

We pray that our will be done a lot, and when God's Will does not line up with ours, how do we respond? What is healthy for us emotionally and spiritually?

Parable of sheep and goats

We opened up our podcast today with a topic in mind but there was a last minute change so John and Todd opened up our Bibles and picked a verse(s) to discuss. Today, Matthew 25:31-33. “But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; 33 and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left.

As we began to discuss these werses, Charles Wodetski came in and joined us. What great timing and a great addition to this podcast.

Talk about unscripted and unplanned. That's exactly when the Holy Spirit takes over.

Just realized we forgot to pray to start this episode and never closed with our usual prayer. God still worked His Spirit in the podcast and it was great.

What was the effect that having a mentor on Christian and his family. Christian also talks about life growing up with his mom and two sisters in Valparaiso Indiana.

What are some of the things that Christian values and his goals in his young life.

We explore the relationship Christian had before Christ and his relationship now with Jesus as the center of his life.

He admits as we all do that being a Christ follower is not easy and it takes effort but freedom in Christ has helped Christian become a man.
