  • Episode 7:The Curious Case of a Culture That Refused to Disappear
    2026/06/18

Sometimes curiosity arrives in unexpected places.

In this episode of A Curious Moment with Curious Becks, a familiar mural spotted whilst waiting for a train sparks a much bigger question:

What does it take for a culture to survive?

Drawing on the Welsh anthem Yma o Hyd, Becky reflects on Welsh history, the Rebecca Riots, the campaign to preserve the Welsh language, and the generations of people who refused to let their culture disappear.

Along the way, she explores the meaning of hiraeth, the connection we feel to those who came before us, and why cultures, languages and communities don’t survive by accident.

    Together we’ll consider:

✨ What Yma o Hyd can teach us about resilience and identity

✨ Why leadership work is legacy work

✨ The idea of being a good ancestor

✨ How the cultures we create today shape what endures tomorrow

Because perhaps leadership isn’t just about managing the present.

Perhaps it’s about carrying forward what matters and creating something worth leaving behind.

After all, we are still here because others came before us.

The question is: what are we helping to ensure is still here for those who come after us?

And as always, I’ll leave you with a curious question

  • Episode 6: The Curious Power of the Few
    2026/06/11

What if change doesn’t begin with a movement?

What if it begins with a question?

In this episode of A Curious Moment with Curious Becks, I reflect on a quote from The House in the Cerulean Sea that stopped me in my tracks:

“Change starts with the voices of the few.”

As I sat with those words, I found myself wondering about the moments that come before change becomes visible. Before there is momentum. Before there is collective action. Before there is a movement.

Drawing on themes from a recent Leadership Log conversation about activism and advocacy, I explore the idea that activism is often the spark that ignites change, while advocacy is the flame that keeps it burning.

    Together we’ll consider:

✨ Why change often begins with curiosity rather than certainty
✨ The courage it takes to be one of the first voices to speak up
✨ How activism, advocacy and leadership are more connected than we might think
✨ How Connect, Challenge and Create can help us move from noticing to action

Because before there is a crowd, there is usually a conversation.

Before there is a movement, there is often a voice.

And before change happens, someone has the courage to begin.

And as always, I’ll leave you with a curious question

  • Episode 5: Who's Pause is it Anyway?
    2025/09/11

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do isn’t to speak — it’s to pause.

In this episode of A Curious Moment with Curious Becks, I explore what happens when we resist the urge to jump in with answers, fixes, or advice. Drawing on Stephen Karpman’s Drama Triangle, Michael Bungay Stanier’s Advice Monster, and a few of my own recent experiences (including the irony of pausing the podcast last week ), I reflect on how easy it is to slip into Rescuer mode — and how that can unintentionally take away someone else’s agency.

    Together we’ll consider:
✨ Why curiosity lives in the pause
✨ How the Drama Triangle and Advice Monster show up in our everyday conversations
✨ Why “rescuing” often says more about us than the other person
✨ How my 3Cs — Connect, Challenge, Create — can help us choose curiosity over control

Because in the end, it’s not in the rush — it’s in the pause — that real connection is found.

And as always, I’ll leave you with a curious question
