  • Episode 7:The Curious Case of a Culture That Refused to Disappear
    2026/06/18

Sometimes curiosity arrives in unexpected places.

In this episode of A Curious Moment with Curious Becks, a familiar mural spotted whilst waiting for a train sparks a much bigger question:

What does it take for a culture to survive?

Drawing on the Welsh anthem Yma o Hyd, Becky reflects on Welsh history, the Rebecca Riots, the campaign to preserve the Welsh language, and the generations of people who refused to let their culture disappear.

Along the way, she explores the meaning of hiraeth, the connection we feel to those who came before us, and why cultures, languages and communities don’t survive by accident.

    Together we’ll consider:

✨ What Yma o Hyd can teach us about resilience and identity

✨ Why leadership work is legacy work

✨ The idea of being a good ancestor

✨ How the cultures we create today shape what endures tomorrow

Because perhaps leadership isn’t just about managing the present.

Perhaps it’s about carrying forward what matters and creating something worth leaving behind.

After all, we are still here because others came before us.

The question is: what are we helping to ensure is still here for those who come after us?

And as always, I’ll leave you with a curious question

  • Episode 6: The Curious Power of the Few
    2026/06/11

What if change doesn’t begin with a movement?

What if it begins with a question?

In this episode of A Curious Moment with Curious Becks, I reflect on a quote from The House in the Cerulean Sea that stopped me in my tracks:

“Change starts with the voices of the few.”

As I sat with those words, I found myself wondering about the moments that come before change becomes visible. Before there is momentum. Before there is collective action. Before there is a movement.

Drawing on themes from a recent Leadership Log conversation about activism and advocacy, I explore the idea that activism is often the spark that ignites change, while advocacy is the flame that keeps it burning.

    Together we’ll consider:

✨ Why change often begins with curiosity rather than certainty
✨ The courage it takes to be one of the first voices to speak up
✨ How activism, advocacy and leadership are more connected than we might think
✨ How Connect, Challenge and Create can help us move from noticing to action

Because before there is a crowd, there is usually a conversation.

Before there is a movement, there is often a voice.

And before change happens, someone has the courage to begin.

And as always, I’ll leave you with a curious question

  • Episode 5: Who's Pause is it Anyway?
    2025/09/11

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do isn’t to speak — it’s to pause.

In this episode of A Curious Moment with Curious Becks, I explore what happens when we resist the urge to jump in with answers, fixes, or advice. Drawing on Stephen Karpman’s Drama Triangle, Michael Bungay Stanier’s Advice Monster, and a few of my own recent experiences (including the irony of pausing the podcast last week ), I reflect on how easy it is to slip into Rescuer mode — and how that can unintentionally take away someone else’s agency.

    Together we’ll consider:
✨ Why curiosity lives in the pause
✨ How the Drama Triangle and Advice Monster show up in our everyday conversations
✨ Why “rescuing” often says more about us than the other person
✨ How my 3Cs — Connect, Challenge, Create — can help us choose curiosity over control

Because in the end, it’s not in the rush — it’s in the pause — that real connection is found.

And as always, I’ll leave you with a curious question

  • Episode 4: Mind Reading Isn't a Safety Strategy
    2025/08/28

On the road, indicators keep us safe. They show intent, reduce uncertainty, and give others time to react. But when they’re skipped, faulty, or ignored, risk rises and one small moment can spiral into something serious.

It’s the same in our workplaces.

In healthcare, our “indicators” are handovers, safety briefings, checklists, and escalation protocols. These are the signals that keep patients and colleagues safe. Yet too often, they’re rushed, unclear, or missing altogether.

In this episode of Curious Moment with Curious Becks, I explore:
💡 How everyday “what ifs” on the road mirror human factors in healthcare
💡 Why missing or faulty signals can lead to adverse events
💡 The role of silence as one of the biggest risks to safety
💡 How the 3Cs : Connect, Challenge, Create help us use our safety signals more effectively

And as always, I’ll leave you with a curious question

  • Episode 3. Ted Lasso, Loving Critics & Rainbows
    2025/08/21

Sometimes all it takes to think differently is a single question.

In this week’s Curious Moment with Curious Becks, I share how a conversation with one of my trusted loving critics shifted my perspective.

How I was reminded of the fun and depth in the show, Ted Lasso, and how its lessons on kindness, belief, and curiosity apply far beyond football. It also brought to mind Maya Angelou’s wisdom: “Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.” (watch this video to hear more)

    In this episode, I explore:

    • The difference between mentors and loving critics
    • How loving critics act as “mirrors,” helping us see blind spots (drawing on Dr. Tasha Eurich’s work on self-awareness)
    • Why curiosity opens the door to different thinking
    • What Ted Lasso teaches us about reframing failure and empowering others
    • How mentors give us the map — but loving critics help us check the compass

And as always, I’ll leave you with a curious question

  • Episode 2:The Hidden Curriculum: Lessons Beyond the Grades
    2025/08/14

This week, A-level results have just landed and GCSE results are right around the corner. But beyond the grades and the certificates lies something just as important — the hidden curriculum.

These are the lessons we don’t get tested on, but that shape us for life.

From resilience and adaptability to empathy and creativity, the hidden curriculum runs through school, university, postgraduate study and into the workplace.

    In this episode, I share:

    • My personal story of being bullied at school, the fear of speaking up, and how it sparked my lifelong passion for psychological safety

    • Why grades are only part of the story, and the skills that matter most often aren’t graded at all

    • How my 3 Cs of Curious Leadership — Connect, Challenge, Create — bring the hidden curriculum to life in leadership

    • What these lessons mean for anyone navigating their own next chapter, results or no results

Whether you’re waiting on results, supporting someone who is, or reflecting on your own journey, I hope this episode reminds you that the most valuable lessons are often the ones between the lines.

In this short reflection, we explore the vulnerability and possibility of starting fresh through the lens of psychological safety, belonging

I’ll also share real moments from my first week in a new job, and how small acts of welcome made a big difference in helping me feel like I belonged.

    We’ll dig into:
✨ Why being the “new kid” is a powerful place to lead from
✨ Timothy Clark’s Inclusion Safety and how it shows up in real life
✨ The role of curiosity in navigating change
✨ How connection and courage build the conditions for growth
