Today's Guest:
Director of Performance Nutrition at the University of Cincinnati- Dillion Frees
From NCAA athlete to nationally recognized sports dietitian, today's guest has built a career at the intersection of high-performance athletics and nutrition science. With a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Mount Union—where he also played collegiate soccer—and a Master’s in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences with a focus on Medical Dietetics from The Ohio State University, he’s combined academic excellence with hands-on experience to elevate athlete performance at every level.
He’s currently the Director of Performance Nutrition at the University of Cincinnati, where he became the first full-time dietitian in school history. Since stepping into that role,he’s built an entire department from the ground up, developing a multi-disciplinary nutrition team, implementing EMR systems, leading education initiatives, managing multi-million-dollar dining projects, and guiding the fueling strategies of multiple athletic programs—from basketball and volleyball to track and field.
Before Cincinnati, he honed his craft with the Buckeyes, supporting major programs like football and men’ssoccer through individualized counseling, team education, and elite-level fueling strategies. He holds certifications as a Registered Dietitian, Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics, and Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS), and he's deeply committed to athlete health, wellness, and performance.
Whether it’s managing high-performance fueling stations, mentoring future dietitians, or developing protocols for eating disorder support teams, today’s guest is redefining what it means to be a sports nutrition leader.Follow and like this podcast as well as leave questions in the comments that may be answered on future episodes.
