His death in this manner was fortold by the Bible. It was His choice to die, to break down the dividing wall between God and man: Man's sin. As post-resurrection people we can take comfort in Jesus' sacrifice, knowing that He has already made up for all my failings, if only I would trust Him and give control of my life over to He who has conquered both life and death.
