„Memory” to jeden z najbardziej znanych standardów muzycznych, moment kulminacyjny musicalu „Koty”. Premiera spektaklu odbyła się w 1981 roku na scenie londyńskiego West Endu. Muzykę do musicalu o kotach, opowiadających swoje historie na wielkomiejskim śmietniku, skomponował Andrew Lloyd Webber, a libretto napisał Trevor Nunn na podstawie poematu Thomasa Eliota. Obawy kompozytora, że melodia przypomina utwór Pucciniego, rozwiał jego ojciec jednym zdaniem: „Brzmi jak milion dolarów!”. Piosenkę „Memory” nagrało ponad 160 artystów, m.in. Elaine Paige, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Sarah Brightman, Jose Carreras czy Mireille Mathieu, a w Polsce m.in. Zdzisława Sośnicka. - "Memory" is one of the most famous standards musical, the climax of the musical "Cats". The premiere of the show took place in 1981 on the stage of London's West End. Music for a musical about cats, telling their stories in a big city garbage dump, composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and the libretto was written by Trevor Nunn based on a poem by Thomas Eliot. The composer's concerns are that the melody resembles a piece by Puccini, his father explained in one sentence: “It sounds like million dollars!". The song "Memory" was recorded by over 160 artists, including: Elaine Paige, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Sarah Brightman, Jose Carreras and Mireille Mathieu, and in Poland, among others Zdzisława Sośnicka.
