このコンテンツについて

It is not uncommon to feel hurt about the callousness of people whom you expect to care about what is happening to you or what has happened to you. Survivors are often shocked at how alone they feel, or how the loyalty they expect to receive in exchange for the loyalty they have shown is not reciprocated when they need it. This is especially true if their situation is ongoing, which is what constitutes the trauma types that result in complex trauma.

It is inevitable for people to show impatience or run out of empathy when they have calculated that your problem should have been solved by now. Or if their efforts to help ended up throwing you from the pan into the fire, but they don't realize that, so they believe you are being ungrateful.

Other people's calculations about the progress of your situation or the decisions you "should have" made are not based on understanding the nuances of your situation. Those calculations are based on limited information, which usually contains inaccuracies. The calculations are often arbitrary as well.

Survivors should know that other people's reactions or responses to their situation are based on their own mental processes, their own lives, and the information they have received from various sources. Knowing this should make it easier not to dwell on the reactions of others, so you can turn your attention to your spiritual practice and deepen your relationship with the Creator.

Listen to the Holier Than Now podcast, hosted by Felizia Hunt, for her insights and observations on moving forward from crisis, trauma, and being a spiritual being living in a human body on planet Earth! This podcast is not intended to replace your therapy or spiritual practice. It's just an outlet for a woman who has been through some things sharing what she's learned.
