Military service is at her core. As a child, Julie and her siblings lived with their parents at various bases in the U.S. and in foreign countries, an adventurous upbringing that shaped her future. In high school, she came to Fort Worth on a ROTC scholarship after being admitted to the early admission program at TCU. She later moved overseas and served as a captain in Desert Storm in the 98th General Hospital in Nuremberg, Germany. After the military, Julie landed a job at the largest contract management company in the world and climbed the corporate ladder. In 2019, a recruiter happened to contact her about the CEO job at the Tarrant Area Food Bank, and she jumped at the opportunity to make an impact and give back. She was named President and CEO and, about 60 days later, the COVID pandemic struck. Julie went into military crisis mode and, for the next two years, found a way to get food into the community at a time when they needed it most. "It reaffirmed for me that I was put in that position at that time for a reason," said Julie, who manages a $150 million budget and oversees 130 employees. "We partnered with organizations in ways that we had not before. We found creative ways to work together to reach people." Find out how she and her team did it and the impact that they continue to make in the community and the surrounding areas.Don't miss this episode of "Take this Down with Ty Stimpson."Learn more about Tarrant Area Food Bank at https://tafb.org/and follow @tarrantareafoodbankVarghese Summersett Injury Law Group https://versusinjury.com/@versusinjury
