批評家のレビュー

“The case studies are relatable and the overall viewpoint convincing. More than 70 years later, Frankl’s philosophy still inspires.” (Kirkus Reviews)

あらすじ・解説

Find hope even in these dark times with this rediscovered masterpiece, a companion to his international best seller Man's Search for Meaning.

Eleven months after he was liberated from the Nazi concentration camps, Viktor E. Frankl held a series of public lectures in Vienna. The psychiatrist, who would soon become world famous, explained his central thoughts on meaning, resilience, and the importance of embracing life even in the face of great adversity.

Published here for the very first time in English, Frankl's words resonate as strongly today - as the world faces a coronavirus pandemic, social isolation, and great economic uncertainty - as they did in 1946. He offers an insightful exploration of the maxim "Live as if you were living for the second time", and he unfolds his basic conviction that every crisis contains opportunity.

Despite the unspeakable horrors of the camps, Frankl learned from the strength of his fellow inmates that it is always possible to "Say yes to life" - a profound and timeless lesson for us all.

Extraordinary story of courage

I listened to this twice. The courage and conviction of the author during his incarceration in concentration camps coupled with his perseverance is a life lesson for all.

A Necessary Read

Just as with Frankl’s “Man’s Search For Meaning”, you will want to read this several times to glean the depth of his words. The book offers incredible insight into the importance of each life and it’s potential.

Serious, helpful and insightful in troubling times

A broad, non-harping, non-judgmental expression of opinion that is timeless and appropriate for 2020. I will re-listen to as needed.

Compliments Man's Search for Meaning

This can be considered a synopsis and afterword of Frankl's other, more well known work.

Broadens perspective on life

We can at times forget to appreciate the gift of just being alive. This book has reminded me to to notice and be grateful for the many aspects of life. It is well written and well explained.

Exquisitely meaningful.

Everyone should read this book once, if not once per month. Frankl’s works have given me strength and direction through twenty years of love, toil, hardship, and peace.
