Rancher Roby Bradford isn’t looking for a wife, but he changes his mind when he receives letters from a charming widow in Boston. Valerie Hartmann must escape the trap her powerful brother-in-law, Edward Hartmann, has set for her - marry him or lose her five-year-old son, Joshua. Her only hope is to flee with Joshua and marry Roby in Planters Point, Nebraska.
Edward discovers where Valerie has fled. He boards a train west, and upon arrival, begins hunting her down. While Roby is out rounding up loose cattle one day, Valerie and Joshua are taken at gunpoint. Edward plans to dispose of Valerie and abduct Joshua.
