The Road Does Not Remember You is a bleak, stand-alone frontier apocalypse novel set in the Second Age of The War for the Adamite Throne, long after civilization has learned it will not be saved. The undead are no longer an invasion but a constant force of nature, guided at times by the patient and inhuman Varnhollow, who watch rather than conquer.
The story follows three men walking the same ruined northbound roads, never meant to meet again.
A young boy—last son of a legendary outlaw gunslinger family—survives by scavenging dead towns and practicing the quick-draw every day with his father’s twin plasma pistols. Skill is his inheritance, discipline his only shield.
An aging caravan guard, once sworn to protect settlers, walks abandoned trade routes with a plasma repeater rifle and the ghosts of those he failed to save. Each mile is penance, each shot another name remembered.
A cursed deserter of the Republic army, armed with a plasma hunting rifle, pistol, and explosives, finds that people inevitably follow him—and inevitably die. His leadership is instinctive, his survival a burden that leaves ruin in its wake.
Their paths never truly cross, but the road binds them all, grinding memory down to distance and motion. There are no heroes here, no final battles, only men who refuse to stop walking while the world learns patience.
