あらすじ・解説

A deadly black widow has eliminated three husbands and counting. But Nameless knows her one weakness. To bring truth and its consequences to her crimes, the vigilante must spin a web of his own in part three of the Nameless series.

Lucia - current last name, Rickenbah - has made a fortune by marrying rich men who tend to drop dead. But the superstitious blonde believes in more than money and murder. Nameless’s job is to scare a confession out of Lucia, and as the psychological warfare escalates, even he may be in for a shock.

From number one New York Times best-selling author Dean Koontz comes The Praying Mantis Bride, part three of Nameless, a riveting collection of short stories about a vigilante nomad, stripped of his memories and commissioned to kill. Follow him in each story, which can be listened to in a single sitting.

Good story and narration!

This was another good story of the Nameless man. I really am enjoying these short stories. They are good and things happen quickly.

This one was about a superstitious psycho woman. I won't go any further than that since it was a short story and I don't want to give anything away.

As for the narration, Edwardo Ballerini does a great job on all the voices including the female voices. He has a very nice reading voice too.

Praying mantis Bride

This is an excellent series. First time I tried audible books. Koontz is able to still able to give enough detail of characters and surroundings that draws the reader's imagination in. Great plot.. each one is surprisingly different. I applaud him on his ability to fit all this in a short story..I don't know why I should be surprised, he is my favorite author. I can always count on enjoying his books. Now I'm enjoying his short stories.

3rd of 6, not my favorite

I have enjoyed the other 2 in this mini series so far but this felt like a filler to me. Perhaps it was not in line with my tastes with the whole superstition premise but I didn't care for this book and if I had to pay money would not suggest it. It does not need to be read to tie into the series to understand what is going on so if skipped it is not essential.

This time, it's personal...

*minor spoilers* In book 3, our hero Nameless is chasing a superstitious, misandric (man-hater), beautiful, but deadly black widow who sets her eyes on someone in the Ace organization. The Ace organization is the facility that employs Nameless, so this time it's personal for our hero. I really liked the superstitious angle since many people I know won't do certain things or must do thingsin a particular order (I'm a bit OCD myself), it grabbed my attention. Lucia, the black widow like many real life serial killers, did have an interesting upbringing, such as the way her mother groomed her, jilted at 16 by a boyfriend, how she grew up never rich, etc. Of course she tries to justify herself to the audience, her mother, etc., but because Koontz has crafted the Nameless storyline to be so methodical and her psychological profile was "fixed" (plus, again, Nameless is our hero of the story), the audience isn't given much of a chance to fall for it. I don't support her condemnation for the opposite sex, but like other killer documentaries I've watched, I respect the monster's work. And of course take a moment to remember the victims. However, these are stories about Nameless and once again, Koontz has engrossed me in another of his tales. Now on to Book 4!
