あらすじ・解説

A series of suspicious deaths in a retirement home draws Nameless into the confidence of a terrified former resident - and into the dark heart of a shocking conspiracy. In part five of the Nameless series, it’s time to hunt.

Oakshore Park is Michigan’s most exclusive assisted-living community. Presided over by two killer angels of mercy, it’s also THE go-to facility in assisted dying. For a cut, they make impatient heirs happy. Nameless must concoct a scheme just as cunning. But righteous retribution stirs disquiet in the avenger as light starts to shine on the black hole of his past. Should he welcome it or keep running?

From number one New York Times best-selling author Dean Koontz comes The Mercy of Snakes, part of Nameless, a riveting collection of short stories about a vigilante nomad, stripped of his memories and commissioned to kill. Follow him in each story, which can be listened to in a single sitting.

it was good, not great.

possibly the weakest of the nameless series to this point, but still entertaining. Dean Koontz is a terrific writer, and I love diving deep into his novels. but I suspect Amazon asked him to write a series of short stories for their original collection and he penned them out in no time flat. that being said, these stories are perfect for the Koontz fan who does not want to be tied down for 10 or 12 hours of a normal audiobook.

Money is more important than life in the nursing home. Nameless comes to settle the score.

Another hit

Enjoyed it once again like the others in this mini series. I wasn't as captivated by the storyline. Pretty predictable. Nice quick & easy to read and finish before bed. Not left in the middle. That is a positive about these mini books. A negative would be if you are having to pay for each individually. I'm enjoying this new character build called, Nameless. Very intriguing man! 👍

Euthanasia

In Book V of the Nameless series by Koontz, our hero battles a man and woman duo (a handsome doctor and an attractive medical assistant/ex-exotic dancer - a bit cliche) who think they are Angels of Mercy, except obviously they're not. They kill rich, elderly people in their 70s and 80s with awful children/inheritants, taking a cut of their estate settlement once they are deceased. I did stay thru the ending, but was not impressed. It read too much like an old Law and Order: SVU episode. This particular subject matter annoys me for personal reasons, hence the stuck-in-the- middle rating, but on the bright side after this story, we are sure to learn more about Nameless and the reason behind his purposeful but missing memories.

Nameless is getting less creative

In the first three books of the series the ways Nameless introduced the villains to their demise was creative and witty. This book and the last The Red Rain were not as fun. There was no creativity in the deaths and a lot more backstory. I’m losing a little bit of interest. Hope the final book of the series goes back to his creative ways.
