あらすじ・解説

The Lights of Sugarberry Cove is a charming, delightful story of family, healing, love, and small-town Southern charm by USA Today best-selling author Heather Webber.

Sadie Way Scott has been avoiding her family and hometown of Sugarberry Cove, Alabama, since she nearly drowned in the lake just outside her mother’s B&B. Eight years later, Sadie is the host of a much-loved show about Southern cooking and family, but despite her success, she wonders why she was saved. What is she supposed to do?

Sadie’s sister, Leala Clare, is still haunted by the guilt she feels over the night her sister almost died. Now, at a crossroads in her marriage, Leala has everything she ever thought she wanted - so why is she so unhappy?

When their mother suffers a minor heart attack just before Sugarberry Cove’s famous water lantern festival, the two sisters come home to run the inn while she recovers. It’s the last place either of them wants to be, but with a little help from the inn’s quirky guests, the sisters may come to terms with their strained relationships, accept the past, and rediscover a little lake magic.

Typical Heather Weber but not as good

The performance was ok except for the child’s character. I found myself fast forwarding through it. The story was way too long. I knew the end and still had hours to read. This was the first Heather Webber book I did not finish. I would not recommend.

Sweet Story

This is the third HW novel I have had the pleasure of listening to (if you haven't listened to Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe *my personal fave* or South of the Buttonwood Tree - you're missing out!) and of the three, this one is my least favorite. While I loved the story and the characters and the setting, I wish we could have gotten a little more of the Inn life. I was thinking a busy Inn, cooky characters, loveable delivery boys (maybe I was thinking Dragonfly Inn for Gilmore Girls? lol) but it's more concentrated on the family running it. I love the narration, and the bit of magic and little plot twist at the end! I did enjoy this book and I will absolutely read more of HW's work as it is released!

Slow southern fiction

I can’t believe It was a three star for me as the authors past two books have been some of my favorites. I just didn’t get the same affect with this one. It was slow paced (not to mention I listened via audible and the narrator was also slow) and I just couldn’t connect. A good southern read with mother daughter sister drama and life choices so still a good book overall.
