あらすじ・解説

In 1943, Private Clay Paxton trains hard with the US Army Rangers at Camp Forrest, Tennessee, determined to do his best in the upcoming Allied invasion of France. With his future stolen by his brothers' betrayal, Clay has only one thing to live for - fulfilling the recurring dream of his death.

Leah Jones works as a librarian at Camp Forrest, longing to rise above her orphanage upbringing and belong to the community, even as she uses her spare time to search for her real family - the baby sisters she was separated from so long ago.

After Clay saves Leah's life from a brutal attack, he saves her virtue with a marriage of convenience. When he ships out to train in England for D-day, their letters bind them together over the distance. But can a love strong enough to overcome death grow between them before Clay's recurring dream comes true?

Love Sarah Sundin

I have read or listened to just about all her books and enjoyed every single one of them. I love romantic stories with realistic things happening, and I love the WWII time frame so I really appreciate all the details she puts in her books so you can get a good idea of what things were like back then. Also, Sarah Zimmerman’s performances are always outstanding. Wonderful, enjoyable, clean entertainment.

Thoroughly Amazing

Sarah Sundin did not disappoint in her final book of the Sunrise at Normandy series. Clay and Leah's story is beautiful, heartbreaking, and lovable.

While I loved every part of the story, it was a joy to listen to letters and telegrams between Leah and Clay, the Paxton parents' love for Leah, and the transformation and growth of Leah and Clay throughout the story.

The historical, medical, and military detail made this book such an educational and enlightening read.

Sarah Zimmerman's narration is second to none. I cannot stop listening and am on my third time through the book two days after it was published.

Loved the 3rd book in the trilogy!

I was in love with the characters in this book within the first couple of chapters Leah so full of life and so innocent. Clay so jaded by his life but some how they fall in love. It wraps up the brothers stories and helps them bring peace back to into the Paxton family.

Excellent!

I highly recommend this whole series. This one in particular made me weep. Not because of tragedy, but because of tenderness and sacrificial love. These characters, Clay and Leah, are unforgettable in their humanity and heart. I didn’t want the story to stop! Sarah Sundin has outdone herself.

An Army Ranger and a Naive Orphan Find Their Path to Joy under the rigors of WWii

I enjoyed The Land Beneath Us very much. It held a refreshing tale of two entirely different people and how they were thrown into adulthood by circumstances beyond their control. Lea, a orphan twice, and a young Texas youth going through Ranger training. It was hard to put the book down.

Well written WW2 story with a message of hope

What a great author and narrator! I thoroughly enjoyed the story, the details of life for families in WW2. The main characters are "human" but are so steadfast in their faith I found it personally encouraging. the romance was clean and wholesome and met a standard that most Christian romance novels often miss.
