あらすじ・解説

You will never have a clear idea of yourself if you do not follow this guide...

For most of us, it would be impossible to spend a day without coming into direct or indirect contact with dozens of family, friends, people on the street, at the office, on television, in our fantasies, and fears. Our relationships with others are the elements that are most changeable, irritating, pleasurable, and mystifying in our lives.

Types of personality, based on the Enneagram's ancient system, will help you enjoy more satisfying and fulfilling relationships in all areas of your life by introducing you to the nine basic types of personality inherent in human nature. This knowledge will help you to understand better how others think and why they act as they do, as well as to increase awareness of your own personality.

The 9 types of people:

  • The Perfectionist motivated by the need to live life the right way; improve one-self and others; and avoids anger.
  • The helper, motivated by the need to be loved and appreciated and to express your positive feelings towards others.
  • The achiever motivated by the need to be productive; to achieve success; and to avoid failure.
  • The romantic motivated by the need to understand your feelings and to be understood to search for the meaning of life; and to avoid being ordinary.
  • The observer motivated by the need to know everything and understand the universe and to be self-sufficient
  • The loyalist motivated by the need for security; to feel taken care of; or to confront your fears.
  • The enthusiast motivated by the need to be happy and plan fun things; to contribute to the world; and to avoid suffering and pain.
  • The challenger motivated by the need to be self-reliant and strong; to make an impact on the world; and to avoid being weak.
  • The peacemaker motivated by the need to keep the peace; merge with others; and avoids conflict.

Highly accessible, yet filled with sophisticated concepts and techniques found nowhere else, The Wisdom of the Enneagram is a strikingly new fusion of psychology and spirituality. It offers an exciting vision of human possibility and a clear map of the nine paths to our highest self-expression.

Excellent

This has book has been the clearest and most concise book about the enneagram. If I were going to listen to only one book about the enneagram, it would be this one.

Awesome! Love it.

Awesome! This book looks into the core personalities that explains how we each process information. After listening to this, I came to see how and why specific personalities are key for the successful execution of projects or how to accept the various personalities of your most intimate relationships. I'm the kind of person who loves the uniqueness of every person in my life - I love how each personality, is the right personality and how much easier life is when we can accept, love and nurture each other. Great experience- watch how your ego starts getting you down about your core personality or judging others - personal growth is gonna happen once you listen to this. Love it.

The best information

It's one thing to finally figure out who you are and another to then have a notion about how to take the weaknesses in your personality type and begin to transform. The best information I've ever listened to helping me understand myself and others.

The most informative source I have found!

The most informative source I have found in the Enneagram especially on the subtypes. It should be stable for anyone who is serious about the Enneagram!

An outstanding book!

An outstanding book that goes deep into the Enneagram! I was continually impressed as I listen through the chapters. This isn't a surface level enneagram book, this goes deeper than most into the challenges of each type, and most importantly, how to overcome those challenges.

I adore this book!

This is the most articulate, insightful book I've listen on the Enneagram. Chestnut so clearly describes each type and then breaks them down into three subsequent subtypes. It's fascinating to see how different the countertype subtype can be from the other subtypes. I also thoroughly enjoyed the appendix which compares and contrasts each Enneagram type. If you love the Enneagram, this is a must-have.

helpful information.

I first encountered the Enneagram through the podcast promo for "The Road Back To You" That book is a great first step, but if you want to dig deeper into the model this is THE book to listen. Really excellent, detailed, and helpful information.

Amazing book. Recommended!

One of the most comprehensive and easy to understand books on the Enneagram. The detail and description are rich and colorful - and provides clarity about how the subtypes influence and color type structure. If you're interested in taking your understanding of the Enneagram to the next level I highly recommend this book. I have purchased at least a half dozen copies to share with friends and family. You will not be disappointed!

Recommended!

This work goes through all the Enneagram types. The book was useful but is a bit to work through given the repetitive nature of the book's structure. It also has a good comparison of the different types as an appendix. I appreciate that the headlines underneath each type provide a good outline of the different major points for each personality type. The only topic it doesn't cover is what each type looks like at various levels of high and low function.
