あらすじ・解説

"Sizzle Factor: SPF 50. A secret marriage, lies about affairs...even sex on the day of the divorce party" (USA Today) a novel by the author of the New York Times best seller and Reese's Book Club Pick The Last Thing He Told Me

The second novel from Laura Dave, the acclaimed author of Eight Hundred Grapes and Hello Sunshine. In The Divorce Party, captures a much-discussed cultural phenomenon that has never been profiled in fiction before - divorce celebrations - with her characteristic wit and warmth. Set in Hamptons high society, The Divorce Party features two women - one newly engaged and one at the end of her marriage - trying to answer the same question: When should you fight to save a relationship, and when should you let go?

An insightful and funny multigenerational story, this deeply moving novel is sure to touch anyone whose heart has weathered an unexpected storm.

Not bad but not my favorite.

The story wasn't bad. Just a bit predictable maybe? May have to try another by this author to see.

Wait, where is the rest?

This book needs an epilogue for the epilogue. As I listened to the final chapter I was disappointed with the rather abrupt end to the story. It felt like the author could have gone a million directions with all of the characters, but instead went nowhere.

It never took off for me

I liked the characters and kept thinking there would be more to the storyline. I thought the end was disappointing...almost boring.

Utter fluff

This story says nothing and and goes nowhere. I returned the title when I only had an hour and a half left. I’m surprised I got that far, but I was busy doing housework while listening. A banal story about an uber-rich couple getting a divorce and throwing a party while showing the reader all about rich people ways and their internal thought processes. The main narrator is marrying into this rich family and it’s hard for her, poor thing. Boring, predictable, meaningless. The narrator has a tone that tries to impart a sense of high emotional stakes to the cardboard characters and this makes it sound even more pretentious.

I Really Tried To Like This Book but....

The story was just not interesting enough. I downloaded this book after enjoying The Last Thing He Told Me but these books are incomparable. The storyline here was repetitive, benign and SLOW. and the narrator's voice was just annoying. I wanted to like it and persevered until the end but it just wasn't enjoyable. Sorry.
