A crowded café, a handsome stranger, and a chance encounter that changes everything!.

Lora Weaver is having a bad day. She’s just come from another failed job interview after her recent move from New York to Montréal left her scrambling for work. She’s discouraged, nearly broke, and the dress she wore to impress is wilting in the sizzling summer heat.

When she takes refuge in an adorable crowded café to de-stress with her prized Jane Austen novel, she encounters a handsome stranger. A stranger who sets to scribbling secrets in a journal mere inches away from her croissant and mochaccino glacé. Secrets she has no business knowing. Which is just as well since the scribbles are in French and her skills in the language verge on lost-in-translation territory.

Not that anyone watching would know that. Anyone watching would think Lora knows plenty. Which Lora soon realizes when her beloved Jane Austen novel goes missing and her new life in a new city plunges into a mélange of suspicious strangers, sketchy spies, backstreet barters, and mysterious secrets. So many secrets. Secrets Lora needs to uncover if she wants to get her book back!

Find out how Lora Weaver met the people who changed her life forever—bestie Camille Caron and impossibly enigmatic co-boss Laurent in The Demi-Tasse Début Lora Weaver prequel novella. Pull up a chair and hold on to your mochaccino, this one could get bumpy:)

The Demi-Tasse Début is a light romp featuring idealistic social-worker-turned-sleuth, Lora Weaver. Full of female friendship, found family, and rom-com vibes, it may be read as a standalone introduction to the series or after reading any of the other books from the Lora Weaver series of rom-com mystery novels with a splash of French charm.
