Epic, violent storytelling and great fun to read at a distance of 1,570-odd years
Tim Hodkinson's clever, evocative and utterly gripping reimagining of the origins of some of Europe's greatest legends is rich with layers of knowledge of, and love for, these timeless stories. A wild hunt through the swift rise of the Huns, the slow fall of Western Rome, and the devastating effects of greed and grief on friendships.
