あらすじ・解説
Surprise your friends! Astonish your family! With Pimsleur, you'll be speaking and understanding like a native in no time. Thirty minutes a day is all it takes. Italian Level 1 Lessons 6-10builds on material taught in prior units. Each lesson provides 30 minutes of spoken language practice, with an introductory conversation and new vocabulary and structures. Detailed instructions enable you to understand and participate in the conversation. Each lesson contains practice for vocabulary introduced in previous lessons. The emphasis is on pronunciation and comprehension and on learning to speak Italian. Reading lessons begin in Lesson 9 and provide you with an introduction to reading Italian. These lessons are designed to teach you to sound out words with correct pronunciation and accent. A reading booklet to be used with the audio lessons is also included in PDF format.

If you're looking for the reading material...
Any additional comments?
I was confused about where to find the reading material that is referenced in these lessons, so I thought others might be, too. Here are the instructions from Audible to find them:
"You will be able to find the accompanying material 'PDF' link underneath the book title in the 'Library' section of the website. Please click on the following link to access the 'Library' section: http://www.audible.com/lib "
Hope that helps someone!

Limited Vocab/ Better With Frobose
Any additional comments?
I used to think that Pimsleur was the king of memory techniques.
I am now think that Frobose language programs like the Power Italian series has an even better memory technique, but that’s an open debate.
I have successfully used Pimsleur’s Spanish, French, and now Italian programs and I have to say that they really do work. And Pimsleur Italian will definitely teach you some Italian and make it stick. No easy task. Good for them.
However, Pimsleur has a real problem with limited vocabulary. They teach you in a box, and the box is small. No creativity, limited vocabulary. Their greatest asset is their memory technique.
I think if you were to combine Pimsleur Italian with Learn in Your Car Italian and definitely Power Italian you would have a winning combo.

What about reading part?
I really like this couse - very practical and easy to remember. But the thing is from chapter 8, it contains reading part whereas there is no material for reading.. Dont understand.. I used the free credit for this audio book but if I had bought this I would have been so upset.

Need to rewrite script for lesson 9
Very helpful with lots of repetition. My only complaint is lesson 9, which sounds like an awkward date rape scene.

This guy won’t take “no” for an answer
The lessons are good. They go a little too fast so I had to slow down the play back to .75 speed on my phone to grasp the words being said. The segment with the guy incessantly asking the woman out for a drink is a little bit creepy and actually made me uncomfortable. How do you say, “Leave me the $&@# alone!!” in Italian. LOL! Otherwise it is a very good learning tool!

Va bene...
Getting the basics. Since it is not interactive it is difficult to tell if I am saying the words with the correct pronounciation, but it's quite fun.

Easy to learn
I enjoyed this program. I have already learned the basis to be polite in my first Italian city. I would just need few seconds more to repeat. Overall just Great!!

Very dated, expensive
What disappointed you about Italian Level 1 Lessons 6-10?
Pimsleur language courses have somehow or other got good reviews everywhere - on the basis of this segment of the Italian course, I have no idea why.
The entire course consists of the learner playing the part of a man trying to pull a "young woman", constantly begging her to drink "something" or eat "something" with him "NOW" or at all times of day and night.
This is simply not useful! God help anyone who expects this to be useful on a holiday to Italy, unless you especially want to come across as a pervert.
The material doesn't seem to have been updated since it was first published - so you would expect this to be available at a knock-down price - but it's actually hugely expensive as you need 6 different volumes to complete even the first level. I strongly recommend you try more modern and better priced alternatives like the Paul Noble course (much better value and much less likely to get you arrested) and Rocket Italian.
Simon & Schuster are making money out of old rope on this product and I would avoid it.
Would you ever listen to anything by Pimsleur again?
On the basis of this, no I wouldn't bother with any other Pimsleur courses.

Conversational italian
This a course for learning spoken italian. I really like it because it involves you in conversations that are spoken at a realistic speed. They concentrate on pronunciation and developing a good accent. It is easy to use and is well planned. I have now purchased the next book.

PRECISE AND CLEAR TRANSLATION
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes I would . I have tried a few online Italian learning sites and this is by far the best one. It is very clear and interactive conversation is brilliant.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Italian Level 1 Lessons 6-10?
The most memorable part is when I get the whole conversation right. Io vorrei mangiare qualcosa adesso. i.e. I would like something to eat now.
Have you listened to any of Pimsleur’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Only lesson 1 to 5. which I cannot really compare as it is basic and I new the very basic as my daughter lives in Italy. My problem is having a conversation with people and understanding and giving the right reply.. I am slowly getting there since having started the Pimsleur Lesson.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
The Italian Job
Any additional comments?
I have found your books have helped me much more than any other online learning sites. I can now ask somebody what they would like to eat or drink in Italian and also I could now get taxi from the airport and be able to tell them where to take me. The idea of just doing half hour a day I thinks works very well as you are not overloading your brain and it seems to improve your memory. Thanks Pimsleur.
