概要
Ned Franks; Or, The Christian's Panoply by A. L. O. E. is a didactic tale of a one-armed sailor who, after losing an arm in the Queen's service, seeks steadiness and virtue in a humble cottage in Colme. He finds work, friendship, and a stern test of truth through his interactions with his sister Bessy Peele, her son Dan, and young Norah Peele. The central themethe girdle of truth and the breastplate of righteousnessdrives episodes in which Ned resists deceit, offers honest counsels, and endures misjudgment. A park mischief and Lady Bartons inquiry threaten to ruin Ned, but the vicar Curtis and his wife support him as Stephen White confesses the real culprit, revealing a community learning to value honesty. Norah's journey from fashionable temptations to steadfast virtue, aided by Ned's guidance, culminates in her embracing self-denial and integrity. The book closes with Ned offered a teaching post, a vindicated name, and the promise that truth, humility, and faith can sustain a person through lifes trials.©2026 Evergreen Brewing Co.
