あらすじ・解説

A bitter sweet from Dee/Devon.

Young Micah "Mike" Cordett's privileged life explodes when he is caught naked with a schoolmate. Running away from disgrace, he blunders into a trap in a seamy part of London and endures months of abuse before escaping. But with the help of the Andrews family, he's begun to climb out of his fear. Yet, when a reminder of his happier past erupts into his life in the form of Lucas Spring, Mike's not certain he's ready to face the remnants of the charmed life he'd once enjoyed. He's certainly not ready for love.

Lucas Spring pined for Mike from afar when they were in school. This shadow of the confident boy he once knew shocks him, and Lucas vows to do anything he can to help restore the person he'd so admired. With patience and determination, he hopes to ease Mike's fears and perhaps even win his love.

But when a violent figure from Mike's past looms into his present, will the tender shoots of a new beginning be crushed?

Book three in the Victorian Holiday Hearts series.

WARNING: Contains themes of sexual abuse that may trigger some listeners.

delightful

Another triumph. A charming romance with a certain underlying darkness that is realistic for many young gay men who find family and society rejection when discovered. Mike's story brought tears to my eyes and anger to my heart for his torments. Not to be missed.

Mike has faced terror and hides from the world.

Lucas went to Eaton with Mike, but his old school mate is reduced and a shadow of his old confident self. After being caught naked with another boy at Eaton, Mikes life is stolen by a man who tricks him.
Now with the Andrew’s family that he has lived with since escaping captivity, his old school mate Lucy’s finds him and hopes to help Mike find his confidence and lose his fear.
A sad but sweet story of life and love.

Another great little vignette by Dee/Devon narrator as usual spot on

Lovely third story in the aeries. Although it can be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend they are read in order to get maximum enjoyment of the characters and their partners. The one thing I regret about these books is that they were longer and this one certainly could have been, Mike had enough angst to fill quite a lot more pages not to mention the stuff that happens later... But wishful thinkings, I suppose.

And for goodness sake audible PLEASE get the four book in the series-- it is a Summer based novel I believe considering the seasonal theme of the series.

DNF

I have enjoyed previous work by these authors but I found this one boring and skipped through sections before giving up in the second last chapter.
