Bill Gates shares what he's learned in more than a decade of studying climate change and investing in innovations to address the problems, and sets out a vision for how the world can build the tools it needs to get to zero greenhouse gas emissions. Bill Gates explains why he cares so deeply about climate change and what makes him optimistic that the world can avoid the most dire effects of the climate crisis. Gates says, "We can work on a local, national, and global level to build the technologies, businesses, and industries to avoid the worst impacts of climate change."

Sleep is one of the most important but least understood aspects of our life, wellness, and longevity. Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep, or what good it served, or why we suffer such devastating health consequences when we don't sleep. Compared to the other basic drives in life - eating, drinking, and reproducing - the purpose of sleep remained elusive.

The next Bill Gates will not build an operating system. The next Larry Page or Sergey Brin won’t make a search engine. And the next Mark Zuckerberg won't create a social network. If you are copying these guys, you aren't learning from them. It's easier to copy a model than to make something new: doing what we already know how to do takes the world from 1 to n, adding more of something familiar. But every time we create something new, we go from 0 to 1.

Americans precede anything negative with three nice comments; French, Dutch, Israelis, and Germans get straight to the point; Latin Americans and Asians are steeped in hierarchy; Scandinavians think the best boss is just one of the crowd. It's no surprise that when they try and talk to each other, chaos breaks out. In The Culture Map, INSEAD professor Erin Meyer is your guide through this subtle, sometimes treacherous terrain in which people from starkly different backgrounds are expected to work harmoniously together.

The guru to the gurus at last shares his knowledge with the rest of us. Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman's seminal studies in behavioral psychology, behavioral economics, and happiness studies have influenced numerous other authors, including Steven Pinker and Malcolm Gladwell. In Thinking, Fast and Slow, Kahneman at last offers his own, first book for the general public. It is a lucid and enlightening summary of his life's work. It will change the way you think about thinking. Two systems drive the way we think and make choices, Kahneman explains....

あらすじ・解説
From the CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella, an inspiring account of the transformation of an organisation and the coming transformation of humanity.
As told by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Hit Refresh is the story of corporate change and reinvention as well as the story of Nadella's personal journey, one that is taking place today inside a storied technology company, and one that is coming in all of our lives as intelligent machines become more ambient and more ubiquitous. It's about how people, organisations and societies can and must hit refresh - transform - in their persistent quest for new energy, new ideas, relevance and renewal.
At the core it's about us humans and our unique qualities, like empathy, which will become ever more valuable in a world where the torrent of technology will disrupt like never before. As much a humanist as a technologist, Nadella defines his mission and that of the company he leads as empowering every person and every organisation on the planet to achieve more.

Amazingly written book
I loved. reading this book. I can very well connect to many cricket related parallels drawn to explain some very important concepts of life and leadership, as me being part of my school cricket team in India. I wish to read it again and again . Best wishes to Satya Nadella and Microsoft... wishing you success.

Empathy 4.0
Nadella’s book is a call to empathy in technology and business. I got a glimpse into his style of leadership: a departure from the hard-driving, cut-throat style that characterized Gates. I’m inspired that Microsoft has regained her soul.

Too much of an advert for Microsoft and friends
I felt that I should have been paid to listen to this advert for Microsoft and friends rather than pay for the privilege. I did not find anything particularly insightful and it very convenient that the things the author is arguing for would all be great for Microsoft in a business sense.

Refreshingly candid!
A genuine account of the road travelled so far by CEO Satya Nadella. No buzz words, no rhetoric and in no way a statement that his quest here is complete. A thoroughly enjoyable listen and an insight into the man at the helm of Microsoft - overseeing 100,000 employees spread across 190 countries. An honest, family man with relatable core values and empathy at the heart of everything he does... empowering every person and every organisation on the planet to do more.

Interesting enough, but very fluffy
While I enjoyed parts of the book, it could easily have been condensed in a blog or the likes.
Parts of Satya's thinking challenged the way we should think about the world and its challenges, however, the majority just felt like observations and ramblings.
Not disappointed that a listened to it, but wouldn't hurry to reccomend it

Quite inspiring...
Never heard anyone repeatedly assert their being CEO of a company like a mantra as he did in this book.
I guess Satya Nadella wants to assure everyone that he's in charge and that he's not a puppet of Bill Gates. I just feel that it's unnecessarily obvious because he's leading Microsoft in an entirely different direction than the other 2 CEOs before him. Microsoft is more respected now as a technology company under him than at anytime in the company's history. That in itself is already marvelous achievement.
