Coming from a family with a prevalence of all sorts of chronic skin conditions (like eczema, rosacea, psoriasis and cystic acne), I completely broke down when I developed rosacea myself in my early thirties. All the doctors I had seen didn't give me much of a chance of curing my skin; they said my only hope was to alleviate the symptoms temporarily with antibiotics, steroid creams, and isotretinoin. But I said "no" to using any medication, because I knew from my family members' experience meds are only short-term fixes for chronic skin conditions—and even if they help for a little while, the problem always returns.

I didn't want this to be my story. I was determined to "fix" my skin properly and permanently. I must say, for once, my rebellious and headstrong nature became useful. After a couple of months of educating myself about chronic inflammatory conditions, gut and liver health, etc., I started implementing the conclusions of my findings into my life. Six months later, I had a completely rosacea-free face, and until now, three years later, I haven't experienced a single flare-up.
