あらすじ・解説

Stone Barrington returns in the new edge-of-your-seat thriller from the number-one New York Times best-selling author.

When he's apprised at the last minute of a mandatory meeting abroad, Stone Barrington rushes off to Europe for a whirlwind tour of business and, of course, pleasure. But from the start the trip seems to be cursed, plagued by suspicious "accidents" and unfortunate events, and some of Stone's plans go up in flames - literally.

Not a believer in coincidence, Stone sets out to learn the true source of his curious misfortune and finds that what appeared to be bad luck may, in fact, have been a warning. From the chic streets of Paris to the majestic Italian coast, Stone is pursued from all sides...but when the tables turn, the hunted may become the hunter....

Mediocre

Mediocre. Typical Stone Barrington story. We love Stone, but these story lines require suspending disbelief. Most of the recent books sound like Stuart Woods or someone wrote them in an hour. Would like to see improved plots and better character development like some of the earlier books. MJ

Just awful

Conglomeration of piffle...written for the 12 to 14 age group that newspapers aim for.

Ok story...read emotionlessly

I think when the next one if this series comes out, I'll read it the old fashioned way. Roberts has difficulty conveying any sort of deep emotion vocally. A tragedy occurs to someone near Stone because of their involvement with him and he sounds like it's just a minor inconvenience. He also makes Dino sound like a toad, not attractive at all. The story is a REALLY LIGHT read. Good for the beach or something else where you're just trying to fill time enjoyably. All in all I'd say to skip this one on Audible and maybe buy it when it goes on sale in paperback.

Worse narration ever

The content was as expected...entertaining and amusing. The narration was atrocious, I suspect the director just gave up half way through. The accents change constantly and disappear entirely to occasionally return for a few sentences. The voices of Dino (NYC police commissioner) and CIA station chiefs are guttural grunts and wheezes sounding like uneducated nincompoops. And since when has the Director of the CIA had an English accent? So bad it distracted from the content

His Heart is not in this one.

Mr. Woods has developed fantastic characters and has employed a superb narrator in Tony Roberts. After reading over 40 of his books I can't understand why the plots are becoming more convoluted, senseless, and the books have no beginning or ending. Even as a series one would hope each book could stand on its own as a work. Foreign Affairs ends with "to be continued." Then the following book in the series is a literal copy and paste of the last chapter of Foreign Affairs as the first chapter in Scandalous Behavior. I also checked the audiobook version. It is the identical audio soundtrack.

Well, back to Foreign Affairs: it is somewhere between The Three Stooges and a poor vaudeville version of slapstick. The setting on the Amalfi Coast was depicted accurately as was the general Naples area.

Great escape reading

I love these stories. They take to a place other than work and everyday stresses. Make our longer car trips fly by

Love Stone!!!!

If you could sum up Foreign Affairs in three words, what would they be?

Great Foreign Mystery

What was one of the most memorable moments of Foreign Affairs?

I especially like the traveling from one country to another but the suspense of who wants Stone dead NOW keeps me intrigued.......

What does Tony Roberts bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Tony reads Stuart Woods books with such enthusiasm and I like the different change in voices especially when he imitates Dino B.....

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No the whole book pulls you in just like the other books with Stone Barrington

Any additional comments?

Love the way Woods puts these together this was my 35th Stone Barrington book and each one leaves me greatly anticipating for the next.
