With ominous prescience, Harker expresses the hope that if anything terrible happens to him, Mina, his fiancée, will read it. The Harker sections are narrated by Alexander Spencer. His purposeful pace and subtle turns of phrase leave listeners with the sense of something sinister in the shadows. Susan Adams voices Mina and Lucy with sweet earnestness. As Mina’s journal unfolds and Lucy and Mina’s exchange of letters is read aloud, Adams keeps the ordinary amusing and the extraordinary, terrifying. Through excellent characterizations and credible dialogue, both narrators make this a fine fit for audio.
