Factfulness: The stress-reducing habit of carrying only opinions for which you have strong supporting facts. Why are some people and organizations more innovative, more influential, and more profitable than others? Why do some command greater loyalty from customers and employees alike? Even among the successful, why are so few able to repeat their successes over and over? People like Martin Luther King, Jr.; Steve Jobs; and the Wright Brothers might have little in common, but they all started with why. Their natural ability to start with why enabled them to inspire those around them and to achieve remarkable things.

In a powerful new vision Dr Brené Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability, and dispels the widely accepted myth that it's a weakness. Social scientist Brené Brown has ignited a global conversation on courage, vulnerability, shame, and worthiness. Her pioneering work uncovered a profound truth: Vulnerability - the willingness to show up and be seen with no guarantee of outcome - is the only path to more love, belonging, creativity, and joy. But living a brave life is not always easy: We are, inevitably, going to stumble and fall. It is the rise from falling that Brown takes as her subject in Rising Strong.

Sleep is one of the most important but least understood aspects of our life, wellness, and longevity. Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep, or what good it served, or why we suffer such devastating health consequences when we don't sleep. Compared to the other basic drives in life - eating, drinking, and reproducing - the purpose of sleep remained elusive.

あらすじ・解説
Brought to you by Penguin.
How do you cultivate braver, more daring leaders? And how do you embed the value of courage in your culture?
Written and read by NYT best seller Brené Brown, Dare to Lead answers these questions and gives us actionable strategies and real examples from her new research-based, courage-building programme.
Leadership is not about titles, status and power over people. Leaders are people who hold themselves accountable for recognising the potential in people and ideas and developing that potential. This is an audiobook for everyone who is ready to choose courage over comfort, make a difference and lead.
When we dare to lead, we don't pretend to have the right answers; we stay curious and ask the right questions. We don't see power as finite and hoard it; we know that power becomes infinite when we share it and work to align authority and accountability. We don't avoid difficult conversations and situations; we lean into the vulnerability that’s necessary to do good work.
But daring leadership in a culture that's defined by scarcity, fear and uncertainty requires building courage skills, which are uniquely human. The irony is that we're choosing not to invest in developing the hearts and minds of leaders at the same time we're scrambling to figure out what we have to offer that machines can't do better and faster. What can we do better? Empathy, connection and courage, to start.

In the right place at the right time
This is a book whose time has come. Victor Hugo said: All the forces in the world are not so powerful as an idea whose time has come. In the current environment with political upheaval, it feels like the old system and structures are being irrevocably changed. In all this, we need leaders to guide us. Having said that I believe people have given up on leaders and often choosing the best from a bad bunch. This book is truly an idea whose time has come. By being vulnerable and human; leaders can really inspire and motivate others for the tumultuous times that is only just starting. If nothing else, this book has given me confidence in the processes I use to develop leaders. One part emotional intelligence mixed with two parts bravery plus some practical skills. I have not read any of her previous books, but I dare you to read this one.

This story needs a narrator!
I have 5hrs remaining in the book, and I am going to soldier through because the content is brilliant. The pompous know-it-all narration by the author, with over dramatic pauses and random, childish attempts to be tough, or blunt, or funny, is driving me nuts. The ideas are great, Brené doesn’t need to pause for applause after each sentence. Although she is annoying, her message is gold. An independent narrator would not try to oversell the stories.

All books by Berne Brown are a must listen
I love Berne Brown's book and this does not disappoint. In actual fact, it is practical and applicable and there are instantly implementable suggestions for tough conversations. The material supporting the book is also available on her website. The narration is so interesting and Berne always makes you feel that its just a one on one tutoring session. can't recommend book enough. Word of caution, to get the best out of any of her books, you need to be prepared to walk with her and do the self reflection! it's a messy business :-)

People people people
I definitely identify with the issues of shame and blame, I am one of those kids brought up with an inability to deal with confrontation in a healthy manner and it has effectively destroyed every relationship I've ever had. I can listen to this over and over, not just because of the practical advice, but the way Brené makes one feel that it is okay to struggle, it is okay to lose your shit and over react, it is not only okay to fail, but to be expected.

Brene is always good, but this felt like a repeat
Brene is always good and I love that she read the book and delivered it more like a seminar than a straight read, more discourse than lecture. However, having read all her previous books, I felt that this was an amalgamation of her previous books rather than fresh information. I agree that good information is worth repeating but I could have done that by rereading her previous books rather than buying this one. Lots of summaries of previous advice, lists, definitions and actions. So overall I was rather disappointed.

VERY LITTLE NEW IN HERE
I love Brene's previous work - have gobbled up Power of Vulnerability, Daring Greatly, Gifts of Imperfection - but for those of us seasoned in her work there is little new in here. There is also extensive use of language that doesn't lend itself to an International audience - "rumble" drove me mad!!! In the UK rumble is a noise it is not something you do with a team! Plus other such phrases as "paint done for me" - I get it, but it just doesn't work for me. I look forward to Brene doing some new research and to her sharing her inspirational insights with us all, rather than rehashing the old stuff under the new guise of Leadership.

Loved this book. Really powerful and useful tools to improve not just leadership skills but life skills and communication. Great content, easy to listen too and well explained skills. Comes with corresponding literature and worksheets which are available from the website. This is my favourite book since her original Shame and vulnerability. A must read! I prefer the listening versions as you hear Brene Brown reading it and it has more depth as her personality warm voice and personality shine through. I would recommend.

She did it again. So simple, so powerful.
I can't tell whether the impact of Brene's writing is amplified by her voice and her story, or if it is just so real and authentic that it would hold up on it's own either way. However, no matter the answer, this book was another game changer for me. It inspired me, validated me, gave me perspective and became woven into my identity. It is nothing short of brilliant. Brene has gifted the world with yet another gem that soothes your soul like a big sister. With her ability to relate and the ability to love herself despite her (self perceived) flaws, is so engaging. Listening to her tell this story is mesmerising but to listen and be able to simultaneously feel her pain/embarrassment/humour/emotion makes it so valuable. Yes, she is Brene Brown - gifted researcher, Author, speaker, mother, daughter, sister, neighbour and wife (plus much more I am sure) and yes, she is also batshit crazy with the BS she lets in to her head sometimes, just like the rest of us. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I wish every workplace person would read it and lay our vulnerability cards on the table for all to see.

The modern day leaders hand book
This book is amazing! As a leader it’s helped me implement some quick simple strategies to have quick wins with my team and dive into the tough conversations. I’ve actually been able to help a team member re-ignite their love of growth in many areas of life not just work which is a major win for both of us. If you are passionate about people and helping them grow, this is the book for you.

Excellent content and narration
lots of relatable and usable info. I've already started sharing the concepts with colleagues, and recommending the book title to everyone that will listen. I'm looking forward to listening again, to fill in some gaps and get a greater grasp and understanding. I've also bought the hard copy book, and I'm glad to know that extra resources are available online, to help implement the strategies defined within.
