Summary

Princess Potentilla, the beautiful daughter of King Cloverleaf and Queen Frivola, is locked away by her mother for fear that someone might fight her more beautiful than the queen. To ensure no one would go looking for the princess they spread rumors that she is a terrifying and hideous monster.

Attracted to the kingdom by one of the queen's parties, Prince Narcissus, a ward of the fairy Melinette, hears the stories and determines to see the beastly princess for himself. Armed with an invisibility ring he goes in search of her, and is shocked to discover the truth. Immediately he falls for the beautiful princess.

Unfortunately, the evil enchanter Grumedan also wishes to marry the princess. And so, they two begin to compete for her hand.

Ultimately, after much foul play, duplicity, and some fairy intervention, Prince Narcissus and Princess Potentilla marry. They live happily and are beloved by all of their subjects.
