Todays Guest: Yale University Head Heavyweight Crew Coach- Mike Gennaro
He grew up in Pennsylvania and started rowing at St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia, earning a spot on the U.S. Junior National Team in 2007. At Syracuse University, he captained the team and helped lead them to their first IRA grand final in 20 years, all while medaling internationally with the U.S. Under-23 Team, including a world-record gold in 2011.
He went on to win gold at the Pan American Games, served as an Olympic alternate in 2012, and medaled at multiple World Cups and World Championships through 2015.
In 2016, he shifted to coaching, joining Yale a top collegiate program where he helped lead three straight national championships. After a promotion and a post-pandemic return to winning form, he became head coach in 2023. A year later, he was inducted into the Syracuse Rowing Hall of Fame.
Today, he leads one of the most dominant programs in collegiate rowing.
He’s a national champion, world medalist, and Heavyweight Crew Coach.
