このコンテンツについて
Fresh news from Dharamsala India on September 17 2025 shows the 14th Dalai Lama is still as engaged with the world and Tibetan communities as ever. Just today according to his official Office he sent a personal letter to Indias Prime Minister Narendra Modi offering heartfelt birthday greetings and praising the incredible development and prosperity hes witnessed in India as its longest staying guest. This letter is more than formality it highlights the Dalai Lamas ongoing connection with Indian leaders and his diplomatic attentiveness at age 90.
Backtracking just a few days on September 13 he congratulated Sushila Karki on her historic appointment as Nepals Prime Minister reaffirming the close ties between Tibetans and Nepalese and expressing gratitude for Nepals long-term support of Tibetan refugees. And after Indias Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan was elected the Dalai Lama wrote a warm note recalling Indias generosity to him and Tibetan exiles. These gestures show his enduring place in both exile politics and regional relations—he remains the symbolic head of the Tibetan diaspora and an active diplomatic figure.
September 10 brought one of the most biographically significant moments of the week. According to both his official site and coverage by Tibetan Review and the Tibet Post International thousands of well-wishers gathered at the Main Tibetan Temple in Dharamsala to offer special long life prayers. The event pulled in around 4000 people in-person including over 1000 Tibetan youth and hundreds from the global diaspora. The Dalai Lama addressed the assembly directly stating that despite the eras decline hes determined to serve humanity for another 40 years if possible. He emphasized leading by faith and reverence not force and shared his daily practice of renewing his commitment to benefit others—words that echo the life philosophy hes modeled for decades. He also noted growing interest in Buddhism even inside China and reaffirmed his hope for a long future continuing his mission.
A Tibetan Youth Festival followed focusing on the next generation’s connection to the Dalai Lama’s legacy. Social media accounts linked to the Central Tibetan Administration and youth groups buzzed with images and testimonials from these gatherings though the Dalai Lama himself is not personally active on mainstream platforms.
Earlier this week in Delhi the Dalai Lamas philosophy of nonviolence was spotlighted at "A Day for Tibet" themed event honoring his and Gandhi’s shared legacy. While not a direct appearance it extended his influence in Indian civil society and among activists.
No new business ventures or policy stances have been reported this week nor have there been controversial headlines. Speculation about his health remains unfounded as both his public schedule and remarks show vigor. No denials or clarifications were needed as no unconfirmed stories surfaced.
